    Or we could let them handle their own growth. I think american culture has done enough as is to change the course of the futures of other countries' people.

    I'd like to think that when they eventually achieve equality, they'll manage it on their own, through the fruit of their own labor. I'm sure when Indians resisted the British, they wanted to stand on their own two feet, in their own way.

    Not that much of anyone was roaring to go and help them. But you get the idea.
    Dear cousin choppitychop89, you were a good relative, though I hardly knew ye.

    I get it Cold-nite. that won't solve anything. It's not getting them equallity, it's tricking people. It's a slow process. Thirty years ago women here had to give up their job if they worked in the civil service sector here. Equal rights is a new concept. an entire nation is not going to turn around and change just because of some fashion in the western world. People need time to accept change otherwise they will resist it as much as possible.

    I thought Islam mentioned nothing about oppressing women - it's a feature of the culture that Muslims live in, and has nothing to do with the religious aspect. You don't see *that* much oppression in the Christian religion, or in Judaism (much less there, I thought).

    And anyway, fundamentalists aren't quite on the same page as the normal people. =P

    every time you open your mouth, you blind us all with your ignorance.

    heres a quote for you:
    "Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future."

    @CN:
    "I look forward to a future in which our country will match its military strength with our moral restraint, its wealth with our wisdom, its power with our purpose."
    -JFK

    The question being, finding out where we draw our morals from, I suppose.

    A very good question. I think our morals need a bit of sprucing in someplaces.

    right. I bow to your superior intelligence and wisdom.

    @CoS: I was also refering to the balance of different moral codes around the world. Where do they clash, and which is the superior moral claim?

    I agree with CN. We as a country have done enough with the world outside. We have supported who knows how many revolutions, and funneled money and influence for th last 60 years. I think it is time we step back and let the world run itself. We really need to stop imposing our will on foreign powers, let change happen at it own pace. We may disagree with what is happening in other countries, but trying to force change will only make that change harder to be accepted by the people.

    P.S. - I have a feeling that I will not like you in the very near future, unreal. More fun with animals will come your way...

    No country has the right to go into another and change its ways unless it violates human rights or something else universal such as that. The only thing it's led to is problems. Once the human rights issue is resolved, get out. We have the UN for this purpose, just like we have police in cities and all. Countries should not be acting on their own.
