Thread: what's with the name of the website?

when i go to the DL section, i can read the title of this website : "Stopping Criminals (NarutoFan.com) in the Act"

What does it means?

is it because narutofan offers downloads of manga, but not for free, that you call them criminals?
Or did i completely miss the point?

NarutoFan exploits users into paying for illegally translated manga and anime.
This site offers illegally translated manga for free.

If something's illegal, it should at least be free, don't you think? =]

go tell that to your closest soft or hard drug dealer, i am not sure he'll agree.

At least, back in europe, weed (canabis) is illegal but not free.

It's just that being new in this scanlated thing, i don't know if anything is done with the author's approval, if the author gets anything, who translate the stuff, why USA manga are so far behind janpan release since there is so much translation of these mangas on the net, etc..

So i'll just take your words that it's illegal, that the author don't get anything and don't approve, and that it should (at least on my wallet's point of view) be free


Anyway, i enjoy hard copies of mangas better than scanlations, but some mangas are good, but not good enough that i'll buy them, and other time i don't know a manga well enough to buy it, or - last - the latest chapters is not up to date in the country where i am and so i have to read on the net...
And so, obviously, i'd rather not pay for my scanlations..


I am an investment professional (in oil and gas), so if ST need me to have it's money make babies, i can help.
(yeah, I know, usually a businessman doesn't read mangas, but in belgium, adults read B.D (draw bands,), which is the european-style version of manga/comics drawn stories..., and so for me it's not that weird to manage money and read good mangas)
Otherwise, i hate Paypal and so won't use it... so i can't make a donation.. sorry

Well, some of the manga is illegal anyway. In the US, if the manga is not licensed by a US company, then it is still legal, however, once it's licensed by a US company, then it becomes illegal. And as you can see, ST hosts a bevy illegal series such as Full Metal Panic, Full Metal Alchemist, Bleach, Naruto, etc.

Or not for free in the case of Tazmo.

Otherwise, i knew that hardpaper mangas were briging something to the author, it's the scanlations i didn't know.

So no author agree to have a scanlation of its manga? (and thus they don't get anything since it's done and available for free?)

Or some authors agree in order to make their manga more popular?

No none of them get money from our reading their manga in a scanlated form, with the possible exception to webcomic artists, which actually rely on their site to sell their product, which can be gotten for free online either way. Its complicated with them, but here its easy. The mangaka who's work is hosted here that has been scanlated by fans, and can be gotten for free here does't make them any money in and of itself. Which according to many international laws is illegal apparently.

Many sites will drop a manga after it has been licensed, so it doesn't become a problem with legality anymore. Most scanlated series have not been released in any other language. On the other hand, scanlating has its benefits - I wouldn't have read Hot Gimmick if I hadn't started reading scanlations, and as a result I bought the series in English and the ones that hadn't been translated in Japanese.

think you should try looking into the bash tazmo section,tho most of that is just biased stuff.Some of the stuff in bash tazmo,if you can read the firest few pages will tel lyou the truth,othertimes you have to look in btween the lines and judge for yourself
