Thread: MTV News special on manga / yaoi

I'm 22 years old and I've been watching anime for about 10 years. I was orginally into american comics and then moved onto anime and manga. I remember when it was hard to find certain titles let alone stores that carried anime. Things have changed drastically changed since then. Anime and manga have blown up in the US in the past several years. Anyone whos been to Best Buy, Barnes and Nobel or even a American comic store can see this. Whether or not if this is a good thing is a matter of opinion. I personally am happy to see one of hobbies/passions get so much attention. MTV news did a broadcast on manga / yaoi in the USA. Theres a interesting article and a video talking about manga and yaoi. It also shows some interviews with fans at the NY Comic-con. Oh god, I'm praying this isn't going to be some heavily stereotyped piece of tripe.

Mind you, I'm also INCREDIBLY glad to see my favorite medium get this much attention. But my god have I grown weary of the tired game of generalization that goes on about new mediums.

I completely rescind my earlier comment. They may choose their headlines and topics for shock value, but I'm glad they are so open and accepting about this. I for one did not expect that. A truly pleasant surprise. Still, they overemphasize the yaoi a bit. But what can I say. It was expected, at least.

They'd have to cut each individual panel and even then modern manga has scenes that aren't even in panels or cross between panels. I don't see how they could make this work properly.

I'm glad i dont have pay tv sometimes.

I remeber at otakon they did a special on jrock and cosplaying.My brother cos'd as seek as my freind did aya from the late Pyscho le Cemu. MTV interviewed them about it

Ughhh, I hate MTV. I haven't watched more than clips of that black void of ethics since around '95. Its no longer got any music at all, just crappy shows filled with sex, drinking, loose morals, and FAAAAAAAR left ideology. I sometimes wonder what kind of idiots would support that vapid piece of crap channel, then I remember that most people in the US, no, the world, are complete and utter morons utterly devoid of any individuality of thought.

People are easily influenced by things with little or no relation to their actual lives. This is because they strive to live any life other than their own.

That's my theory anyway.

Wow, I wholeheartedly agree!! Let's all use our superior intellect to dominate over those subliminally (I love that word, I use it when ever I can!!!) thought reformed imbeciles!!! If it seems conquests of world domination have been rampant through out my posts it's because I'm short on my meds.

At least someone has taken the time to prescribe them to you. You have that over 98% of the insane people living on this planet.

MTV, in my opinion is totally useless. It Music television! But when was the last time they actually played any music. It's all shows like 'newlyweds', 'southpark' and 'Pimp my car'.
