Thread: Carrying knives. What do you think about it...

Actually, it should be a poll. But, hornestly, I am more interesting in what stands behind the replys, then in digits ("48% of people know... 65% do not care... 1% stated tat they are pinguins).

Does anyone here here carries a knife daily (or regulalry)? What knid of knife? (Folding, fixed blade, swiss army knife -- any details are welcome...) What for (just in case, your work reqires one daily, or you even expect to yse it for self defence?)

And if you do not carry one. Would knowing that fellow human being has a piece of sharp steel in pocket makes you uncomfortable? If it does -- why? Or it takes a special knife (switchblade, bali-song(aka butterfly), just huge mean looking one) to scare you?

Now -- why have I started it. I'm a knife person. I like knives. (mostly because they are really handy sometimes. But... there is something very real in them, which current hi-tech world). I carry one daily (usually a folder with 4" blade, but sometimes -- small fixed blade). Not that I use them every day, but better to have and not need, then to need and not have.
Knife community is full of stories about so-called "sheeple" (hybrid of sheep and people, afraid of even the smallest blade, used near them). Never ecnountered them myself, put thes rose my curiosity. So I decided to ask directly...

Me, I like knives. They are very useful tools. I keep a Spyderco Police knife, a very useful foldable, that has a 4 1/8 inch blade and is a combination serrated and straight edge. It has been a faithful tool for many years without any problems, and was well worth the price I paid for it. It is just useful to have around, you never know quite when you might need it. I just carry it around every day for practicality's sake, though it did come in handy that one time a guy attacked me, though that is a different story...
And yeah, I have met some people that are uncomfortable knowing I have a knife, though thankfully it is a very few people.

i like knives....throwing knives, those army stuff, all kinds of it....i carry swiss army around due to work....don't carry otherwise (weekend etc).....it's illegal to carry knives in here.....not sure why u guys are allowed to carry them around??? i've read that there's this dude in the us that have this 9" or 10" knive inside his jacket wherever he goes...pretty scarry coz he's the guy that teaches the swat or army or both to use knive in fighting.......lucky he's in the other side of the world.....

Nope, I don't carry any knives with me. I live in a relatively safe neighborhood, so I never felt the need to have that kind of protection. If I'm out late, I'm usually never alone. I travel in packs...so more security there.

Besides, I know tae-kwon-do. BWAHAHAHAHAHA. protection right there =P

i carry a homemade shank with me that i made out of cardboard and aluminum foil just in case the sheeple ever decide to try and overthrow humanity.

I don't normally carry a knife with me, as I am very forgetful. Usually at least one of my friends has a knife, and it always comes in handy. I don't find people carrying a knife disturbing, nor does it scare me. Mostly because I see it more as a useful tool than a weapon that could hurt me. I mean I carry a pencil every day! Everyone should fear my very sharp pencil!

Anyway, not many people know how to use a knife effectively as a weapon, and it is rather hard to use effectively. . . . .

I don't carry one myself... It would probably freak out too many of my friends. I live in an ok area and never needed it. I have seen peole stabbed (apparently i'm very calm and usful in crisises[?]...) Once it was a man in a wheel chair stabbing a guy who refused to punch him when Wheel chair guy picked a fight.
I know Karate and kick-boxing so i feel safe but i have been thinking about getting a knife or maybe a stun gun.
I HATE guns. But that's mainly my ideas about cowardice speaking. If youre going to attack someone Have the guts to do it up close, Face to face if you will.

LOL XD it was probably a serious thing but when i picture it in my mind i cant stop laughing...hehe...

i have a beautiful opinel that cuts really well, but it is a little but damaged now -_-
anyway i didn't (i need a new one now ) carry it with me all the time (i don't need it to go to school XD), but it's usefull for a little picnic

like i allways say...stabbing some one is more personal...any coward can use a gatt...i am very good with my two fist...but where i am frome...its better to walk with someting sharp...but...brast knukle ar way more cool...
