yup, any kind of comment, negative OR positive, that you want to say about fanfiction.

like... I hate it when people do self-insertions and make themselves something other than a human and make them all strong and mighty and make their favorite character fall in love with them.

oh yea, and the yaoi ones... I don't care if it's true in the actual series, but to change the characters so they are... I know that they're called 'fanfiction' for a reason, but I've got to say, they're quite disturbing...

oh come ON, yaoi is like the best thing in the world.
oocness is not good, but, if you have read 'eventual' pairings in a ffic, you can see the yaoiness in a good and even in a logical way.

(we are making self insertions in a semi/rp comm, but, its harmless-its nothing like OMG I LOVE THAT CHARACTER, HE IS MY HUSBAND-, believe me, and full of crack, as you can guess.)

excuse me, but maybe I'm just a tad bit young for that... or maybe I have more of a ladylike personality than I thought... I hope I shall get a bit more open-minded as I grow older... -_-;

I don't really like self-insertions, either. It's all right if it's entertaining, but otherwise it tends to be the author trying to somehow fulfill a bizarre desire of theirs...which I find creepy.

I hate it when fics are OOC (out of character) and AU (alternate universe). They tend to not even be real fanfics, and are just a (really bad) original story with familiar names tacked on to the characters.

Crack fics are fun. Sometimes they can be annoying, but if they're either really well-done or the author shares my sense of humour, they can be great.

As for pairings, usually I'm pretty open-minded about them. Same-gender pairings don't scare me, but there are some pairings for specific fandoms that I avoid on principle.

And I don't like it when an OC (original character) is ridiculously all-powerful or takes too much of a central role in a fic. I like it better when authors work with the existing characters - who should never ever take a backseat to an OC, in my opinion.

I'm actually a fanfiction addict. I'll read just about anything, aside from the fics I just mentioned. Also, I tend to skip over a fic if there are blatant grammar or spelling errors in the summary...if you can write an entire story, I expect you to be able to write a semi-decent summary. I also stop reading fics when they're so difficult to understand that it's not worth it to plow my way through. (But I'm pretty forgiving if there are just a few typos - everyone has those, except for people with a really good beta.)

I used to read a lot of fanfiction, but then I got respect for myself.

It was so terribly trashy that the only thing that was acceptable was the smut fanfics which are meant to be trashy anyway. There was this really hot series, but then fanfiction.net or whatever got a lot of parents complaining about the website, so they removed all smut related fics...

*sigh* Don't they know anything?

never read fanfics before, i just initially decided they were crap. and from what im reading here my instincts were right.

Noooo! A lot of people have such a bad opinion of fanfiction. Admittedly, there are a tonne of really, really bad fanfics out there...but when you find a good one, it makes it all so worth it. I just browse through until I find one with a decent summary, and if it's good I check out the author to see if they've done anything else. Some of the authors on there are just incredible. But it can take patience to actually find them.

I hate when people spoil their story IN THE SUMMARY. Luckily, such fics suck anyway, and I don't read them.

I hate when people drop fics that are good.

I hate Bible fanfiction.

I hate how the Bleach section is overflowing with drabbles and one-shots.

I hate disturbingness (there is a KarinYuzu pairing in the Bleach section...oh god that's horrible)

@silverdays- self-insertions can be well done, although then they're usually grouped as OC stories and people make excuses about "write what you know"

I love fanfiction. I write it, and am as easily angered by it as by n00bs on the forum (anyone should get that metaphor) because of the bad fiction there is out there.

What I think (basically my opinions in a very egotistic form):

*I like crack pairings unless they split up a perfect couple. Usually the main two characters will stay together in my writings, and I can't stand to read anything when they're apart (unless I don't really like that couple... which isn't common).

*I will read yaoi as long as it's not incestual or just doesn't work.

*I will NOT read/write self-insert stuff because they are usually badly-written. Not all original characters are bad, though... sometimes you just need them in a story. It's kind of fun to write them with lots of faults (actual ones)... but anyway, self-inserts are just going lower than anything else.

*OOC characters are just.... confusing. I like alternate universe fics (I write them a lot =P) because they can be really well-written and not out of character... but when an overused stereotype (such as high school or gang or whatever) comes along, it does get annoying.

*Writers should use proper spelling and grammar. Since when has "u" become part of the English language?

*I'm kind of upset that FF.Net removed NC-17 fics, but the ones that are just about the action aren't usually my favourite anyway... though I'm not against reading well-written lemons or whatever at all =P

*I really hate it when people stop writing because they lost interest or whatever... I mean, I've got writer's block on one story, but I haven't dropped it and won't. I've seen one story that was dropped on the second-last chapter. It was too much effort to write the ending?

*I'm not a fan of reflection things or drabbles, because they make it seem like the authour actually writes. The closest thing to a drabble I ever wrote was 4 pages long, and was the first part of three. >.>

*Wait, back to pairings. Incest is scary. End of story. (Unless they're not really related - the whole stepbrother/stepsister/our parents married a year ago thing is okay, but anything closer is just....yeah.)

*I hate it when people make excuses for a crappy story. "I suck at writing summaries... I don't speak English very well..." um...yeah.

*And bashing people is just low. I mean, you don't have to like a character, but changing their personality because of it is kind of wrong, and makes a story bad.

Edit: OH, and my favourite! Why the FUCK (excuse my language) do people use random, misspelled Japanese words in their writing?! It's one thing to use -san or a similar word that can't be translated, but the next time I read an "arigato" or "gomen nasai" or "konnichiwa" I will kill someone. That authour. Sorry, but if it isn't written in Japanese, I don't want to read it.
(And to counter, I'm writing a fiction where the dialogue is ENTIRELY Japanese. So there. =P I feel so immature now.)

(I have so many complaints because I write for an often-killed fandom... a really popular one... and one that I might not disclose because I'll get stereotyped. Let's just say that there are some authours out there who are REALLY good. The ones who should publish their work. It's people like them that stop me from giving up fanfiction entirely. ^_^)

Ahh. It's hard to find good fanfiction nowadays. Like finding a gem in the middle of a desert. I go to ff.net sometimes, but if you want smut, then go to www.adultfanfiction.net
