I'm in a Catholic school, but God and the evolution theory by Darwin clash in ideas. I have no idea which is true.

Angra, I have to agree with nataku, that was a pretty idiotic post(This isn't an insult to you, it's just that what you said was stupid, I say stupid things all the time myself, its one of my many endearing traits.). Human life, and life itself, is very tenuous. The smallest things can kill us. And life itself, well, if the earth was a little bigger or smaller, the sun was bigger or smaller, if the moon was a different size, if we were a little closer or farther away from the sun, if the tilt of our axis was slightly different ect., life existing on earth would be very hard, if not impossible. Really, it is either the greatest of coincidences or the hand of a creator that allows us to even be here talking. On top of that, I doubt humans will be around 4 billion years from now, when the sun finally runs out of gas. And of course Revelation is in metaphoric form, its a frickin vision, not a straight dictation play by play of what will happen.

P.S. - I'm guessing by how you wrote that english is not your first language, just curious, what is?

I agree with them. Without the sun, we have no plants and so no oxygen for us.

That, my friends, is the most profound statement I have heard all year. If only we could all achieve such logic.

Also, remember that without the sun, there will be no eclipse, and with no Eclipse, I would have to chew Winterfresh.

But if the sun is about to give 4 billion years from now there will be signs showing it's imminent extiction. Humans are not as ignorant as you all claim them to be. Humans will create a means by which they can survive the death of the star. Humans are quite adaptable.
(i do not know what it is about you that closes and opens; only something in me understands the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses) nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands.

Then, try holding your breath for one year. It's the same as no oxygen.

True, but you forget that millions of years before the sun starts to die out, it will start to become less powerful, making it too cold to be habitable, and (if I remember correctly) sending out pulses of radiation that would irradiate the entire solar system. This all hinges on whether humanity could survive without killing each other(we are after all a rather stupid and violent race), or that a behavioral shift(like humans no longer feeling the need to reproduce, not feeling the need to advance intellectually, culturally, ect., which will lead to stagnation and death), or a natural disaster like the eruption of Krakatoa(spelling?). In any case, I doubt humans will last long enought to need to worry about the sun dying. But regardless, I don't think the earth is more that 15,000 years old, and I its safe for me to think that the rapture will occur before another 15,000 years pass.

Edit: On the contrary, I think humans are very intelligent. That is why I believe in nature over nurture (well, 80% to 20% in my opinion), I think Rousseau's "tabula rasa" theory was crap, look what it did to France after the French Revolution. Humans are responsible individuals, able to control their own actions, I just believe that humanity is stupid. Any time humans get together in groups, they lose their rationality, and then it just becomes "mob rule." Truly, John Adams said it best when he said that you could not trust the ignorant masses.

Edit 2: Lang, you've got your heart in the right place, I'll give you that.

hmm. I dont think you can discount tabula rasa so easily jakko... If our nature is so similar, how do you explain the kind of diversity we see nowadays. The issues facing inner city kids versus suburban kids. The psychological/cognitive science work being done. It all points to a more dominant nurture side.

For me, the ratio is 75% nurture, 25% nature.
