Eh, my first thread and it'll have to be on a serious topic. How boring....
But anyways, what are your thoughts on this statement:
"Truth is not relative, but absolute."
If you want to spam and flame, go for it. If you want to be a bit more serious, by all means. This was already kind of touched upon in the Freud thread, but I figured I'd give it a wider audience.
What about half truths?
ill say this... NOTHING is aboslute.... NOTHING.
How do you know that the truth you think of as true is true in the first place? They once thought of the earth as flat as a obvious truth, does that make the world flat?
I think that by its very definition, truth must be absolute rather than relative. A relative truth is more like a belief, I think. Truth appeals to the absolute reality of the situation, and as such is absolute. Things we think are true are not necessarily true, and that is simply our mistake in labeling them as "true."
