isnt it weird how that happens?
its not like we think women are incapable of paying for meals or too weak to open doors, its more that its chivalrous and the way we show our respect/affection.

Being a gentleman nowadays is a crime.

I don't think so. (I'm a girl.) I love it when men are gentlemen. Some women see it as the man thinking they're incapable of opening doors by themselves, like Aikido and martyr3810 mentioned, but I never have. I've always thought of it as a sweet gesture, one that says "I'm considerate, and I'm here for you if you do ever need me."

I don't think either gender is superior, although I think, generally (very generally), we have some slight advantages over each other in different areas. But some of the responses to this indicate that not everyone thinks this way, which is probably why the thread starter felt a need to start this thread. I really think that this needs to be approached like differences in race and culture: we're different, but it's a good thing. (It really is. I wouldn't want to live in a world without men. A few pigs won't stop me from loving you, guys.)

I just want to point out, too, since it seems to be misinterpreted so often, at least where I live, that feminism doesn't refer to the belief that women are better than men. Feminism is the belief that women are treated as inferior and unfairly simply because of their gender.

And would like to be treated equally and not as an inferior. I also like it when a guy opens a door for me and takes the time to do those things. It makes you feel special and it's a nice way to show you care.

I didn't mean that being a gentleman is a bad thing. I do open doors for ladies. I'm just saying that being a gentleman now is becoming underrated. Most people tend to look at me like I'm a doormat or something whenever I do what you consider gentlemanly stuff.

Hell no if there were no men in the world there would be no war, genocide, murder, rioting, and atomic bombs.

Who would want to live in a boring world like that.

Men do indeed have certain advantages, for instance, they don't have to sit down to pee.

I'm glad there are women out there who still see the gestures for what they are.

Sadly, most of the other women just see it as stepping on their femininity
