    Red face Buying Manga

Okay, I've heard a lot of people here bash the site for offering manga to download. They say how illegal it is, how the site should be ashamed by ripping off the artists who make it etc. etc.

Well, let me just say one thing (and Im a newbie here) the only reason I download manga online is because of cost. Manga in the store is around $10. I dont know about you all, but thats pretty expensive to buy a whole series. There are even book stores that forbid you to read in the store. "If you want to read the book, buy it!"

Is anyone with me? What are your reasons for downloading manga online?

I really don't get it, the manga here is scanlated by other people and the site just makes the stuff out there more readily available.

Should a swordmaker be prosecuted just because one of his swords in the hands of a villain cut down a lot of people?

    Mysterious, no?

To see what is good. I end up buying what I really like anyways (like GTO, love hina, I"s, etc) Stuff like bleach though, I read online because US release is slow...but once more manga volumes are out, I will buy some sets.

Manga where I buy is 6.99 compared to 9.99

yeah, its mostly cuz the release is soooo far behind.
But I still buy a significant number of manga, because hard copies are more satisfying/better quality images, and because its the right thing to do. The fact is, if we want to support the industry, we should not take without giving directly back. In the same way that ST cannot run without donations, the manga industry can't run without monetary feedback. I think we should do our parts, respectively.

I have like 175+ volumes of manga, and 10GB of manga on my computer. o.O

So it's kinda equal. If I can't get it in the store...

To be exactish, I think I have around 14 gigs of manga (I tend to read and delete, so its probably closer to 20 gigs total), and around 250 volumes of manga.

EDIT: though I certainly buy less now that I download than I did previous... that, and I'm in college now, and infinitely more poor.

How do you think people start reading manga in the first place? Of course everyone on this site has bought at least one volume of manga in some form, or else they were galvanized to manga through some outside source, and never bothered to actually buy a volume. That, or manga is not sold in the country/region where said person lives. Those are the only reasons I can think of for people on this site to NOT have purchased manga in the past.

For the record, I own over 2200+ volumes of manga.... and my collection is on the rise.

I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends
