Ban a book? Why bother, 95% of people (or so it seems in Canada) wouldn't read any book if they didn't have to.

Well, it looks like one of the criteria for being a classic could very well be inclusion on that list. It also looks like most of the ones banned for political reasons would make very good reading. My opinion is that books shouldn't be banned, but some definitely should have never been written in the first place. Some authors are sick.

I see no reason to ban books....
I did a essay on banned books before and i think most of the reasons to ban books are pathetic.
For example, Black Beauty is banned in Africa for having "black" in it's title.....
    I think that's just retarded.....

alot of books arent banned by countries but by religous leaders and cultural leaders... alot of countries do ban books but the US isnt one of em.

get this... the bible was banned by the Catholic church until they came up with their own version for their followers...

I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,

Oh yeah, the Bible has been massively edited. There are whole parts that the Catholic Church won't allow to be released.

Banning books have some sort of political reasons behind it. It might be any of the reason you might think it would be retarded.
One of the easiest reason to ban a book is.. if it's explicitly causing troubles. Let's say.. if one book is consistently attacking the government, society, or probably culture... would that book be banned? Well, obviously it would be banned. Why? because of some political reasons...

the banned book list is a like a club for awsome books. seems to me alot of great or classic books make it into the banned books list. I would rather have a book on the banned book list then best sellers list. ive heard more about the books on the banned book list then whatever book happend to make it on the best sellers list.

interesting...nvr knew classics such as black beauty and macbeth were banned before...
n look at dis:Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll was banned in China in 1931 because the animals used the human language.

    ROFL

this is pure insanity(lol) i think books shud not be banned. but there are certain issues like racism and sexuality.how do u manage den? age restrictions?

seriously...this world is torn apart by wanting freedom of speech or an ideal society
