YOu really want to know? RIght and Wrong is a human concept, outside of human society there's only survival and you do everything to survive, nothing's "wrong"

Killing is wrong because humans as a whole deem it "wrong", but it is perfectly acceptable if most people deem it "right"

Humans deem Killing "wrong" because of our strong survival instinct and therefore deem anything that would get in the way of that survival wrong,

    It's all instincts, my friend

    Mysterious, no?

you took my meaning too literally. I meant that killing should never be such a simple action.

Not necessarily. If there are absolute moral rules, then your hypothesis would be incorrect.

if everything just boils down to instinct (which, i think any philosopher would disagree with, since the very action of contemplation is such an opposite to instinct), then we really are no better than beasts. And I dont think thats true.

You think we're better than animals? We are animals
There's nothing superior about humans. Our technology is due to luck. If another species had opposable thumbs, we might not be the kings of this world

It might be true that our emotions are not just instinc, but ALL OF IT IS BASED ON INSTINCT

Love is based on the need to procreate, fear is based on the fact to protect oneself and flee in face of a predator.

Why do you think we like sweets? Because back in the day, we craved sugar in our diet (and we didn't have grains as a source of glucose), so fruits were a great source of sugar, so we have evolved to enjoy the sweet tastes of fruits, all instinctive

Even compassion is based on the need for a mother to protect her child (instinctive for survival of a species)

Humans decided on what's right or wrong based on their instints and if you think about it, there is no such thing as right or wrong. There is only survival

the point being that other species do not, in fact have them. Things are the way they are. What ifs like that are pointless.

but we can deny and surpress our instinct. so. just as instinct is inherent in us, the ability to supress instinct is also within us. Both are faculties we can access and use at will.

I would tend to disagree. compassion is a state of mind that is created through empathy.
