Damned a lot of you guys know how to fight, is it because of interest you guys take it up or some other interest? Do you guys have the need to take it up?
All change and evolution is redundant when death is inevitable.

i train in muay thai kickboxing...i've been doing it for 6 years now. I've recently started to work on my grappling skills. i'm mainly interested in the whole mixed martial arts thing like UFC or Pride FC.

a relative of mine volunteered to teach muay thai and i have to say, they can take a hit and have a high endurance for pain. i would even go as far as say he likes it.

currently into collegiate wrestling-since junior high 9 years ago (22 yrs old now). boxing (thai and traditional)-past couple of years. and interested in learning some capoera, kung fu, ju jitsu, and hapkido.

personally tae kwon do doesnt seem very effective in terms of fighting. It is great for building leg strength but id like to see a tae kwon do user effectively take down an experienced wrestler/ grappler when his/her legs are not useful in upclose battle. Yes knees are efffective but how effective when a wrestler can take down and immobilize the legs in a split second. How well can tae kwondo get you out of being on your back and in a vulnerable down position.

I guess im basing all of this in the fact that ive seen 8 year olds get black belts when obviously there skills are not in my eyes at black belt level. In essence i see it as people taking the easier martial art so that they can get the easier ranking. Try going through tough wrestling training and tell me if tae kwon do can still hold par to wrestling or jiu jitsu.

i've been learning aikido for like 3 years, has anyone ever heard of aikido yoshinkan? for some reason i've got to quit... and yes, the darker your belt, the better you are - just because your dirty hands have touch it too much for too long

imho aikido is one of the best material arts out there, 'cause of your fancy round house kick or "flying dragon kick" or "tiger punch" wont teach you about yourself and how to pay repect to your opponents, how to touch their "ki".

but allas, there are too much different aikido dojos and styles... maybe i'll go and learn kendo next...

and sorry for my bad english...

hehehe yeah i have seen eight year olds get their black belt but it took me years to get mine. yeah my style can hold up against any style including your wrestling.

wrestling is a very effective fighting style against striking martial arts, just look at UFC fighter Matt Hughes that guy dominates every match i see him in and he mainly uses wrestling take downs.
