    Default the-evilempire.net

Hi i noticed a few years ago when the evil empire went down people posted on here to find out the latest of what was going on.

I tried going onto the-evilampire.net earlier and the site was down. Firefox says it cannot connect to the server.
Was wondering if anyone knew why it was down and if it is coming back up again?

Thanks in advance and sorry if this is in the wrong section

I think I remember visiting years ago, the site was hacked or something. I believe the owners did not have a backup and that was the end of things.

No, they announce a few months ago that they were giving up the site, because it was thought as a forum, a place to share experiences, but nowadays it was only a download site. So they wait to their host contract to finish.... and goodbye "the Evil Empire"

    Default Sad and nostalgic

Aww. I just realized that most of the old forums I've been visiting over the years are gone... the-evilempire, manga-rebels, and esthetique-realm (this one hasn't closed but it's dwindled now to a simple download forum) to name a few.

I don't mean to be ungrateful but I do miss the community I got used to years back and simply took for granted. Still, I'd like to shout THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all your effort and hardwork! to all those involved with these groups

I feel nostalgic. Here's for those who hasn't read this yet: http://www.insidescanlation.com/history/index.html

Think I knew of that site some time ago, must have forgotten bout it again! And yeah well, this is the life - and the web! You could help us out by becoming more active yourself (and inviting more people over :P)

This sucks, but their forum politics had a lot to do with the lack of activity.

Basically, the mods were a bunch of uptight !"#holes that would delete anything that wasn't a long ass, boring post. They were more concerned about deleting spam (anything with less than 10 words was considered ¨spam¨ automatically) than about making the forums a fun place to stay.

They were enemies of fun, you had to type essays instead of posts, you couldn't insult anyone even in the slightest sense of the word, not even disagree in a harsh manner. As a result, the site had a vibe of boredom and fakeness. The dumbassed staff even felt proud of it.

I know all this because I was a member for a long time, until I got tired of the uptight atmosphere there.

An uptight atmosphere kills fun and creativity, and dont allow people to be themselves. I told the admin and mods last year that this was going to happen, they didn't want to listen... (¨but we crush trolls before they hatch, we rule..blablablah¨) the bloody fools.

    *sigh* What a damn shame

Hey ex-staff from the Evil Empire! In case you're reading this, I'm Dupe Account, dont say I didn't warn you.

I did notice that even this forum has gotten a bit more mellow in terms of traffic and activity. It must really be the trend (and an off-shoot of the IPR crackdowns). More leachers, less active members.

Hahaha. I never thought about this way but you may be partly right Two or three of my posts did get deleted and I had no idea why exactly (as I don't, by normal standards, spam or flame). I don't remember the names but I think they changed admins a year or two ago. They may have tightened the posting rules after (and it is true, a lot of newbies came to post just for the sake of reaching the 10-post download quota).

That's strange, I read every announcement on their website but I somehow missed the one about the site shutting down. I'm actually quite angry about this situation - instead of trying to do something they just closed the site. I did use the download links (especially in the ebook section, I have no idea where to find its replacement ), but I also discussed with people there, I'm sad that all my posts and contacts disappeared so suddenly.

I came to this forum just to find this information, but I think I'll stay here for awhile, hi everyone
