Haven't read a fictional book in forever. I'm just waiting for the final book in Wheel of Time, but if I ever consider reading again I'll consider this book.
My Googlerola Xoom will arrive next week or later.
so I think I'll try reading and sees what the difference are
between the books and tv series.
Khal Drogo is the man. Daenerys made him her sexual bitch tho later on...
It's basically grimdark fantasy with lots of political intrigue and a large cast of characters. Chapters are based on a single character's POV, so you really get to see a lot of what goes on in people's minds.
That said, it's probably the most entertaining book series I've ever read. Martin isn't the greatest writer (nipples and breastplates, anyone?) but he sure as hell can weave a story, and he creates characters that you, the reader, can really come to care for (or vehemently hate). Most importantly, his books are realistic, in the sense that the good will not always prevail, and bad things will happen to good people (and vice versa).
Parts of the series can be quite dry (like for example when Danaerys dreams about cock for 50 chapters) but the epic battles and betrayals really make up for these brief spells. Definitely go check it out if you haven't already, or if you've only watched the tv series. It's good, but it does not do justice to the books.
I think the tv show has done the first book justice... just a few minor cuts. Its really gonna be tested now with the later books with so many characters, compressing it for 10 episodes is gonna be a bitch.
98 watch this.
This should seal the deal
The sword fighting was poorly choreographed, but you have convinced me to read the books.
