Top is stream, bottom is download.
Certainly with anime, when hi10p becomes common, there will be even less of a reason to stream unless you have a really shitty computer.
^ Thing is, maybe it doesnīt ever matter to them.
And I know the thing with the temporary files, but you can get rid of them and they donīt take up space on your pc.
I donīt watch animes anymore because I seriously donīt have the time/patience to do it anymore. And all the new animes donīt really seem to be worth the effort.
There are still some classics I havenīt watched, but Iīll probably come to it...sometime =D
That's the thing. The majority just doesn't care about the quality and want things quick and easy. That's the only thing that really matters to them. The people who are less casual about it will do actual digging to find the "best" quality.
yes you are right , i mean no one have the time to download super quality tera size file

I wonder about that.
I don't have much time to spend on anime anymore. When I do watch it, I want it to be in the best quality that I could find. Same with the manga that I download.
probably not in the group of people you described as the majority but,

side note: i have been introduced to many series that i wouldn't have if i was forced to download because of online readers. there's no commitment in clicking a link and then clicking through a chapter. i guess i like them in principle but it's not fair that people are making money off the work people in the community do for free.
On paper, there's really nothing wrong with online readers, and they're quite beneficial for series that you don't care too much about or just want to check out really quickly as you've said.
The only issue I see is the buttload of money they're making off of them for pure greed. Need enough to pay for servers and maybe fix your computer(s) to keep it afloat? Ok, I get that. Want money to buy a car, house, etc.? Well eff you. That amount of money should be put towards supporting mangakas/animators in some form like buying more of their products. Heck, with all that money big greedy online readers make they could buy 100 copies of everything they host and still have money to buy a few houses.
The easy answer would be host your own competing site with no ads , for free.
As said , many groups use megaupload and the like , so nearly every download gets an ad view somewhere along the line anyway.
So megaupload getting the ad revenue is OK because they were chosen?
I do use mangafox , mostly because I don't have time to be looking for my manga's and they have a good RSS feed for updates.
I use adblock , so they get no revenue from me :P (Thought everyone uses adblock by now?).
I see maybe 1 or 2 ads a week that slip through.
