Not that again...shit like that kills brain cells.
Hey ark, have you talked to Dante since the last time you said he was on IRC the day of the event?
Also, I'm sorta amazed that there hasn't been reports of looting or riots, but then again I guess the culture of Japan is just that cooperative and nice to each other despite the situation. I somewhat expecting the scene to be crazy from the aftermath of everything but they seem to be handling the situation a whole lot better than I had first imagined it would have been like.
He's on right now lol.
And the main focus should be on taking care of the reactors and helping victims, I doubt there'd be much coverage over anything else.
On a random note:
I returned to my country by the beginning of March, due to work related issues (not in Japan but here). All the same, I was in the Kansai area and my friends told me that, whilst you could feel the earthquake in Kyōto it was nothing compared to what people felt in Tokyo and in the Miyagi Prefecture.
Thanks for the concern, though. :)
Also the overreaction to the Fukushima situation is hilarious. People in the goddamn US are buying iodine pills like never before. Newsflash, morons: If people in the US didn't get radiation poisoning when you dropped two honest-to-god nuclear bombs on Japan, what makes you think that a haywire reactor will kill you? Shit, the US government has detonated thousands of nuclear warheads on US soil and nobody went into panic then, so why is it that the modern american is such an ignorant chickenshit?
The problem with a reactor accident is that unlike in a bomb where the reaction is almost instant, controlled fission takes place slowly over a very long time and has radioactive by-products. The concern here is that should there be a breach of containment or should the waste fuel be caught in an explosion, clouds of still highly radioactive isotopes would be carried by the winds. The likely effect on the US will be minimal and the effects will also be likely less than those at Chernobyl, but there is still a very real possibility of contamination. After Chernobyl, small amounts of radioactive particles were found in sheep and lambs in Wales after they ate grass that had been contaminated by the fallout.
Hear from the local news just now that the radiation dust coming to UK or what, and also the commercial plane in US that coming from Japan got radioactive on its body.
Huhu, maybe just hoax. I need to find the real source for this.
