92: Great year, I read Akira for the first time, was both shocked and fascinated by this new media, then getting everything from Japan I could. Generation X and The Simpson were still fresh and funny. Eastern states still young and all those people came to us to steal cars, machines and cash.

96: Had my first vacation without parents, learned to love wind surfing and had the first sex with underage pussy. Shit was cash.

99: My first car. Nearly drove myself to death 3 times right after, alcohol and drugs all over. Met the love of my life and lost her again. Too much alcohol to remember anything.
Ten years later I meet her again and she's fat and frustrated.

2000-2010 Britney Spears, George W. Bush, Paris Hilton and all the other crap people. MTV was airing no more music videos and internet started to become more and more a corp playground. It had some good sides, pirating, scanlating, streaming, etc. But Facebook crap fucks up every site you visit now. I don't get much of the generic music that's popular today for any reason and I feel like that made me grow old too fast.

Actually this still works if you go the corporate route. Being a dick is expected and no one gives you shit about watching cartoons when you earn a decent salary.

@steel - I'm pretty sure that most people (myself included) weren't really people until they past 21. Also you need a life to kick you a couple of times when you're down before your characters settles in.

I completely agree once you're a few years into the decade. There's a huge difference in what we grew up with then. Before that, no, '90 kids may be assholes for the most part but there's enough of us that don't suck ass that we're okay.

I do have a serious theory that the Spice Girls, for all that their music was maybe not the... um... well, no one thinks their music is great, but I think they played a part in my generation not being so into pleasing guys and basing their sense of self-worth on that at an early age. That's so depressing in kids these days. I don't remember us being that trashy, either - we probably were - but there still seemed to be a feeling of choice and empowerment because it was cool for girls to be that way. And it isn't anymore.

Should I stop posting here at 5:30 in the morning...?
