Economies-how do they affect you
Just interested in how your lives have been affected in the last few years. Mine follows. Skip to the end if you like.
So I dunno how many of you know about the Irish problem right now. Our government bought out our banks,(based on expert european union advice, who also happen to be the people the banks owed) basically bankrupting the country. A country of roughly 4 million people now owe the imf 90billion, on top of what we owe others. The interest is 10 billion a year.
Our minimum wage is going down, 81, 000 jobs are go in the civil sector, a work-for-dole(our welfare) is being introduced, 9/10 (including my sister, and all but two of my friends) of graduates are emigrating because work isn't available here. Another reason is that some jobs required at least two years (paid)experience before they will hire you. How you're meant to get that is a mystery. So if you see many Irish about the place, remember that we are, in fact, encouraged to leave
Politicians here can receive up to four pensions for doing one job and received two pay-raises last year, one of which they 'honorably' refused.
So how's you?
