Thread: What has changed since the beginning?

This question can apply to anyone but mostly geared towards the older members.

Like, what can changed since the start of joining?

Life? School? Family? Internet? Residence? Lack of free time?




I'm just curious. Its just that I'm fascinated by the amount of time that has passed and how much has (and sometimes hasn't) changed.

It kinda feels like stepping through a time capsule when I returned to visit this place.

I've changed so much, and so has this forum. But yet there are many aspects which have remained unaltered here.


It just feels. Homey. and nostalgic

Yeah this place is kinda ... familiar now. It may lack the spastic insanity that it was full of when I first joined but I've mulled out and so has this place. I guess it comes from the impending doom of having to be a real person in the near future.

I'm a lot calmer and less confrontational now, I prefer diplomacy over arguing.
I have a full time job as a stock controller in a supermarket (which leaves me with little free time in the evenings due to the shifts that I work), but I still live with my parents (in a separate part of the house thankfully) due to cheap rent and bills and they're happy to take the money since it's just spare rooms they have to heat. The downside is that I don't have landline internet.

I'm still heavily into games, manga and anime, but my tastes have changed dramatically. I no longer like shounen or violent things and instead prefer things that make me think or stir up my imagination.

This forum has had it's ups and downs, some big infighting, people leaving and at one point it seemed that it was on it's last legs with kane being absent for months and too many spam bots that no one could do much about (come to think of it, kane hasn't been around again for awhile recently). We still don't see the same amount of traffic that we used to.

Well when I signed up here I was a 15 year old loser virgin!

But now! I'm a 30 year old loser virgin. Damn.

before:
~high school. Junior/sophomore when joined
~anime/manga obsessed
~general member/visit daily
~living w/family
~more free time

now:
~graduated & working. I help get commercials on TV for Fortune 1000 companies.
~bored of anime/manga
~super mod. visit infrequently/sporadically. have met some st-ers irl (1cor, char, dv); text with others (stubs & deuce)
~living w/emo family
~less free time. usually i'm chilling with friends which may mean I end up traveling to different states on the weekends. poor car...

I've become more obsessed in anime and manga.

me? there was a gap in my life during universuty where i couldnt watch anime or read manga.. .but now im at work and i even spend time here to download and watch anime!! kinda getting obsessed i think which is bad!

I think the biggest changes in my life since joining are that I'm a regular barcrawler now, and I got into a serious relationship with a girl from Germany. Having a steady gf for over a year changed a few things in me, and seeing the world that I'm about to enter, full of friends, and drunken good times, really let me know the kind of life I want to live.

I dont study, perk of being an English major, but I count all my college parties as house parties lol
