It's a competition. I'll definitely shoot the kid, whether he's handicapped or not.
A better question would be, I believe, say: A handicapped person starts beating the shit out of you. Would you fight back? Would you beat the shit out of them in return? How would you compare your reaction, in this same situation, with a regular person?
To answer your question: Yes I would. The reason is very simple. I see no reason why to treat a mentally handicapped kid any different then a mentally able person. To treat them specially in a physical game doesn't do them any justice. You're just reinforcing the fact that they are less capable then you are which tbh isn't a good environment.
That and if someone shot me. I would shoot them back when I got back in without hesistation just because I'm vengeful.
Dante:
They start beating the shit out of me.. I would fight back enough to put a stop to it. I'd treat a regular person the exact same way.
I'd club him with the butt of my gun and knock his ass the fuck out.
On a more serious note, yes. I would shoot back. Why? Because I treat everyone equally, regardless of their "handicap" or not. Fucker shot at me, so I'll put one right between his eyes.
Edit: Besides, why would I even care if someone is handicapped? That's their problem, not mine. To me, they're just another dumbass.
Edit 2: Luphrecio summed up my thoughts on the matter rather perfectly.
Hell yes. I'm not going to stand around doing nothing while someone beats the shit out of me.
I do believe handicapped people need some special accommodations, too. They don't have the same capabilities as normal, healthy people, and that isn't something we should just ignore and tell them to deal with or anything. They should get the help they need. But that's not the same thing as letting them do whatever they want without consequences (and some mentally handicapped people can understand consequences to an extent, just like small children). You wouldn't let a kid get away with doing things like this even if the kid was too young to understand. If they couldn't learn from consequences, then they wouldn't be put in such a situation. And if the parent does it for them, they can't expect others to treat that kid differently - it's not the outsider's fault the kid can't understand the consequences of their actions, and the outsider should not suffer for it.
(expansion of my earlier post.)
To use a more extreme example, schizophrenics who commit serious crimes aren't just let out onto the streets because they couldn't be found guilty due to their disorder. They're committed. And until they can prove they're better (e.g. taking their meds... and, um, that's pretty unlikely for the most serious of crimes) or they serve some time, they're not getting out. A mentally retarded person who commits a serious crime isn't getting better, and they wouldn't be on the street, either. The law doesn't allow them to get away with these things. So why would we? The rules have to be followed.
