I can read all of the (non-kanji) letters at least. Not too much beyond that. ( ・ω・`)

Anyways, message me some way or another if anyone would like to try out the game with us.
I'm on irc, aim, msn, facebook, yahoo, and gtalk 24/7.
The game's about 650mb from ddl, 2.2gb unzipped.
(It's English patched, I just like using the Japanese version for various reasons.)

That's a shame, I was looking for some tips. Right now I can read and write all the hiragana set and can make some simple sentences. The grammar is quite easy to pick up and with a bit of practice isn't that hard (although I've yet to learn verbs). The hardest thing of all I find is remembering vocabulary.

what do you mean when you say you didn't learn verbs?

and how sophisticated do you want to get? in english you can pretty much say everything at a basic level with not a lot of vocab. japanese isn't that different.

I'm working through a self teaching book, I haven't yet got the the chapter where verbs are discussed.

I would like to attain some degree of fluency (I'm in this for the long run, not just to translate the odd manga chapter with a dictionary by my side).

Thats usually the case... then Intermediate hits and it all goes to shit. I quit btw, after I got a D in theu pper division class, which in turn has completely fucked up my degree progress. >
