RIP Satoshi Kon
Satoshi Kon, one of the truly brilliant Japanese filmmakers, passed away August 24, 2010, due to pancreatic cancer. He was 46 years old.
While still in college, he made his debut as a manga artist. Upon graduation, he worked as an assistant for Akira author Katsuhiro Otomo.
He went on to create and direct some of the most impressive and striking anime of the last two decades.
Perfect Blue
Millennium Actress
Tokyo Godfathers
Paranoia Agent
Paprika
I loved all his movies and his style. I'm not sure what they'll do with the movie he was working on before he passed away.

Back when I was younger and into all the cliché anime, I bought Perfect Blue on DVD and was shocked at how mature anime could be. Much later I bought MA, Paprika and TG and loved them all.
He will be sorely missed.

I only ever watch Paranoia Agent. It's a good psychology anime.
Rest in peace.

Sad to see him go, he left a beautiful collection of works, I loved Tokyo Godfathers.
I like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

This is his last words to the world before he passed on.

It's unfortunate that he had to keep his condition a secret. I also wish I appreciated his works a whole lot more before.
