Thread: Annoying things about your culture.

Earth is a multicultural umm piece of rock that has a lot of different people. (Nice opening huh?)

Some cultural aspects of one society differs completely from another. Some like some of these aspects, and some don't. There are always the annoying stuff though. I'm thinking this will be fun if we share them. Since the forum isn't really that active, this might help a bit.
I shall go first:

Annoying stuff are:
Men kissing each other on the cheek when they greet each other. They're straight of course, but I dislike it. It's also against their religion, I don't know where it started but arrgh. Like an old man comes up to you and says " OH hello there." Then he shakes your hands, gives you a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
You can't push him away but aaaa. (They don't do it all the time, but some men do and it's annoying.)

Also, it's annoying on the phone when people call you, there's a standard dialogue:
"Hello, how are you doing?"
"I'm good thank you, how are?"
"I'm fine, how are you."
"Thank God, I'm good, how is your family?"
"They're all good."
"Say hi to them for me."
"Sure, how is your family?"
"They're all good thanks."
"Say hi to them for me."
"Sure, no problem."
(Sometimes this dialogue repeats itself a couple of times.)

" So, is (insert person here) available ?"
"No I'm sorry they left 5 minutes ago."

Ya, well that's what I can think of for now.

Im a chinese living in Singapore, and there's a number of annoying things about chinese..
so here goes:
1. traditional chinese burns hell money and houses, cars, and even maids made of paper, believing that their deceased relatives will "receive" them in "soul society". what i think is tht besides being stupid, it contributes to air pollution

2. traditional chinese parents will not tolerate any forms of arguments against them, even if they are wrong

3. we're stuck following teachings of centuries ago while here's the information age and the only way to advance is to drop all old ways of thinking and look forward

that's all i can think of, or rather here are what i think as major ones

Finland just can't seem to bring itself to win gold in hockey. Bronze yet again. >:S

I live in the USA. what does culture and where u live have to do with each other? You can be chinese born and raised in china move to america and still have chinese culture. You can also be born and raise in america and have chinese culture due to your family, friends and neighborhood. And you can also be borna nd raised in america, have friends, and family who follow chinese culture but still you can choose not to. so ya.

^ Annoying thing about your culture?

My country is a little aimless with the culture thing. We've got 11 official languages and a melting pot of different cultures here. On of the things that does irritate me is that it's considered bad form to speak quietly when there are other people around. You'll see guys walking down the street right next to one another speaking as loudly as they can so that no one thinks they're whispering bad things. This seems to be slowly fading away though which is all good.

I live in the UK, what little culture we haven't sold abroad, we've watered down with imigration. How our current government still has 30+% in the polls I will never know.
