iPad (aka Apple's new ball and chain)

So the new crack for apple addicts came out today, I think it looks beautiful, but I don't really see the point.

Its just a XL size iPod touch (which is pretty pointless and gimicky as it is). And since in Soviet Cupertino apple device controls you, there isn't really much a power or business user can do. As far as I see it, it doesn't fill any real market other than as a fancy gadget, its like a PDA for people who don't really need a PDA.

I could be proven completely wrong, but I don't think I'll be making my bank account cry just to buy something I won't have much use for, all for the sake of becoming Apple's bitch, any time soon.

Thoughts and opinions?

too big for a hand phone, too small for a laptop, too weird for an i pod, but i still could see a future of it... who knows from the look alone it might even change how people attain magazine or morning newspaper, notes, books etc

and my conclusion is:

the people of 'eatenapple' tribe are on to something.. and it might be big. better to stick close

Its like a eBook Reader 5.0 imo.

eBook Readers are great, but they cant do anything besides scrolling a text down. This iPad is somewhat a improved sort of this gadget.

Besides, I like eBook Readers for my stuff... I dont read books but scripts for university or newspaper feeds or something. Could be handy imo... but I always hated the limitations of the atm Readers, so I could imagine myself with an iPad in the future.

considering everyone was labeling it a "tablet", I was expecting a really rad thing that would revolutionize digital drawing, among doing other things. especially since it's coming with a pen. I was never expecting that it would JUST be a large iphone.
I now stare at the image of it in disbelief, amusement, and disgusts for the company. Seriously, Steve? the ipad? You should have just called it a day with the laptops and the ipods. and the hype that the company is building around every single one of their products ain't really helping much at this point.
I am beginning to hate Apple, I hope they die soon. As a graphic design student, I am currently waiting for my painful death next year, when I will be forced to accept to sell my soul and buy a new mac with softs that EXPIRE after 4 years anyway!

and reading manga wouldn't be that bad too.

why would you want to read anything on something that small. It's ridiculous. What kind of situation would u have to be in to not just be able to pull out your laptop and read w/e u want there. And drawing? Why would you want to draw on a "canvas" that small? It's ridiculous. My friend has one and he says it's just a large Ipod. Still can't run Flash on it.

I could see the morning newspaper fashion magazine thing, for people on the go that Ivanov suggested. Other than that, what's the point?

meh....I was never really interested in apple's releases. I didn't know how small it would be, I just knew it was a tablet with a pen. I assumed that they would not recycle their ideas and make a new product instead, so I concluded that it would be a bigger one with an actual individual purpose.
