Evidences of the Planet of Destruction, Nibiru (Possible or Not?)

It's been 3 years since I last visited in Stoptazmo. I've been busy for a while and completely forgot about the thread, The Revelation. So here's another one related to that topic.

Ok now, I heard from my professor a story about the so called Nibiru or also known as Planet X. Every 3,600 years, this unknown planet is gonna pass the Solar System and create destruction to our planet because of the great gravitational force that could stop the rotation of the Earth. According to his sources, the reasons behind the extinction of dinosaurs or rare animals during the Ice Age, the great flood during Noah's era, the existence of giants mentioned in the bible and the lost City of Atlantis is because of this Planet. And some scientists predicted that the next visit of Nibiru into the Solar System is this coming year 2012. I don't know how true this is but I guess the possibilities can't be ignored.

He said that there are huge living beings on that planet and visited Earth when Nibiru entered the Solar system. The existence of Goliath (bible) and discovered huge skulls were some evidences. Beings on that planet were highly intellectual while beings on Earth, as scientists have said, were uncivilized. They said that the Theory of Evolution of Charles Darwin was so fast that it's impossible and if you connect the branches of scientific evidences, there were missing points that would make the theory negligible. They also said that we acquired our intelligence and some physical appearance (from ape to human) from that planet which is why the fast physical evolution and acquisition of knowledge occurred.

You guys are familiar with Greek/Roman/Norse Mythology right? Why would ancient people believe in those Gods? Some said that these Gods descended from Nibiru. He also said there were evidences that long ago (Atlantis), the world was also advanced with high technological tools just like in the modern world but got wipe out when Nibiru passed by. The evidence? There were old carvings of technology in some pyramids in egypt.

Although these were just theories, do you guys think it's possible? If it is, the end of the world is quite near.. I also heard that U.S. is already preparing an underground base to save themselves. Anyway, check out this link (probably add more later):

No "professor" or "scientist" would ever believe in this ridiculous myth.

Really, they wouldn't? Hmm.. but it seems like some already believed about it but not completely. And it's not a myth, it's a theory..

That sounds like Sci-Fi/Fantasy story that is mirrored throughout a lot of movies, comic books, manga, and general novels.

Seriously though, there's less solid evidence for this than there is for Egyptians visiting South America. And no, I wouldn't support that theory either.

if i'm not mistaken extinction of dinosaurs is due to two reasons: a huge meteor that fall down on gulf of mexico and/or a super volcano eruption in sumatra (now called toba lake). the volcanic dust that comes out of (either or both of, i'm not sure) these events cover the earth that make the sulight hard to go trough the atmosphere which make the start of the ice age.

BTW are you sure that this story does not come from one of the "ultraman gaia" episode or something?? i have the strangest feeling that it is.

If this so called "planet" actually is a planet it would by definition describe a roughly elliptical orbit around the sun. Therefore it cannot simply pass through the solar system in a way that would affect the earth's momentum in any significant way.

And here the bullshit really starts to smell. Didn't you notice that this argument actually assumes that there was a global flood (scientifically impossible), that there were giants (no evidence of that) and the existence of Atlantis (well known to be just a myth).

Again, the Old Testament of the Bible is a collection of bronze age myths, and does not count as scientific evidence.

It is completely impossible for life to exist on a planet with an 3600 year long orbit. You apparently don't realize this, but the amount of energy recieved by this hypothetical planet would be completely insufficient to sustain any biosphere, and said planet would basically be a ball of ice for thousands of years.

I'll pass on commenting on the ridiculous attack on evolution. Suffice to say, evolution is an observed phenomenon, and barring some fundamentalist yahoos, no rational person doubts its existence.

One would think that if there actually existed high-tech equipment in antiquity, we should have seen a bit more evidence of them than carvings in the pyramids.

But then again, this claim rests upon a mere myth, so why should anyone take it seriously?

No, they are not theories, they're physically impossible and logically contradictory fantasies cooked up by some ignorant crackpot.

Unless, of course, this is some elaborate troll, which I would assume if I had not heard people seriously arguing for even more idiotic propositions.

In conclusion, this absurd fantasy is scientifically impossible, and anyone who believes it is an idiot.

Am I the only one that thinks of Atlantis as a Greek island province that was wiped out by seismic and/or volcanic activity? Where the hell did all this "Super Technological Atlantis" bullshit start form, anyway?

^nope i too think the same thing.. atlantis was a city that thrive from sea trade. it was writen as an advance civilisation because they are rich and has a great law to protect that richness.. although i do forget what the name of the volcano.. it's on mediteranian sea..

Nibiru = Cylon basestar which frequented our Earth since 150,000 years ago.
Atlantis = City built by the people who survived the exodus of the 12 tribes.

Tera is right,it reminds me of this book named Nemesis I read [not sure about the title anymore though,but it was also about a planet that would destroy Eart IIRC].

And meh,never heard of Nibiru before.I guess we´ll know for sure in 2012 :D
