Default Father Kills Daughter Over Make-Up And Paranoia

Jordanian Father and Sons Kill Daughter/Sister.

Jordan's prosecutor has charged a man and his two sons for the premeditated murder of his 19-year-old daughter Saturday, in the latest "honour killing" to take place in this conservative desert kingdom.

The man and his two sons were charged with beating to death the daughter for leaving the house in makeup and talking to a stranger, according to prosecutor Salah al-Taleb's indictment sheet.
This is more or less normal news and not really worth taking up a thread to talk about it; but, I just thought this last little quote sounded eerily American...

But attempts to introduce harsher sentences have been blocked in Jordan's parliament, where the predominantly conservative Bedouin legislators argue that tougher penalties would lead to adultery.
It's a little frightening how the argument for sexual/societal oppression is that punishing people for murdering those with what they consider to be questionably liberal social practices would lead to a much more adulterous society.

How exactly would it lead to adultery?

Hey, the dad and his sons where idiotic, and should (actually they must) be executed according to shariah law.
This would be like an arabic news station posting news like this (and claiming that americans are perverted) or this (claiming that husbands are psychotic). I mean you people seriously think that stuff like this happens normally, and so far I've never seen, or heard of it before.
So if you're going to stereotype a sixth of the worlds population due to some idiots, then you can go ahead and do so, I'm sick of arguing about it.

I'm not mad, (should of worded it differently, sounds like I'm ticked at henchy but I ain't), but what can I say, I keep stressing that these killings got nothing to do with good muslims, and that they're due to human stupidity. All I'm saying is to not take the lowest of society as an example for all. (The examples I gave are bad, a better example would be to stereotype American teenagers based up on all the school shootings, and reporting every single one on the media). Seriously, nowhere in the quran, does it say that you kill your daughter/sister for honor or that sorts. If the Jordanian government actually gave the death sentence to anyone that murdered their family it would end the matter, and no one would dare do it. If those people followed their religion, then none of this would happen. Anyways, I ain't mad at anyone (don't want anyone to take it the wrong way).

    Two things on this:
    1) I'm not blaming it on your religion itself. I understand that it has far opposing sides and the most extreme outlier's aggressive side get a lot of air time.
    2) Human stupidity I'll gladly take; but it is human stupidity that uses religion its justification.

All I'm saying is to not take the lowest of society as an example for all. (The examples I gave are bad, a better example would be to stereotype American teenagers based up on all the school shootings, and reporting every single one on the media).
Now this analogy itself is completely inaccurate.

A Muslim man kills his daughter siting Islamic teachings as his reasoning - A student kills in the name of his pride, fear, and anger. These things I can sort of agree are probably the same thing when you boil them down.

The huge, huge difference here is that the boys in America are seen as unforgivable and otherwise blackballed by any politician. The guy in question in Jordan? His government openly said that this was a specific case and that it wasn't as bad as other murders.

Do you realize what that means? The school shootings, at worst, reflect America as having bad control over its conflicting social members and groups. The man who killed his daughter, at best, reflects Jordan as sympathizing with a murderer.

    These are completely different things.

If the Jordanian government actually gave the death sentence to anyone that murdered their family it would end the matter, and no one would dare do it.
I don't know if it would end; but I, forgetting my stance against capital punishment, would call that a good step in the right direction.

If those people followed their religion, then none of this would happen.
That's really debatable; but as long as people like you exist who want the benevolent side of that religion to overwhelm the malevolent side, there's good hope for the future of everyone that religion ever affects.
