I played for about 20 years now and I donīt feel like stop. The only imaginable reasons to stop are for me:
    -death
-physicaly unable to play (age or disabled)
    -to poor
-they are no fun any more
and I guess the first reason will be the one why I once stop.

But if you already donīt have any fun with them anymore, I couldīt think for a reason why you shouldnīt stop.

I had to stop playing games. Can't afford to waste the time. Probably won't play any more.

One hour a week is not enough. It's better to stop playing all together, or else I'll play more than an hour, a lot more... >_>

I'm in a similar situation. The problem is that there are many games that you don't want to play in short sessions. Certain games like Tekken or Portal, can be played for an hour and then switched off. I don't want to play Final Fantasy for an hour though. I want to play it for 30 hours straight, until I collapse on the floor and pass out. One hour sessions aren't good enough.

I can see why you may feel this way. I have often awoken from a gaming stupor only to realize I have achieved nothing and wonder to myself how many hours have I wasted in such a state. My conclusions sicken me and I have on many an occasion sworn off the habit, but alas, a free weekend would open up and since I would have no immediate plans I would find myself, before I'm aware of what I am doing, sprawled on my sofa, eyes glazed over, pupils dilated, and a contoller in my hands, unable to move until my alarm sounds off Monday morning. Gaming has become an addiction I can't kick and continues to eat away at the hours of my life, reducing them to empty memories. It may seem a high price, paying with your life, for a few hours of mindless entertainment, but it is one I pay most gladly.

Also, whats the longest you have played a video game for? I once played KotOR for 23 hours straight.

finished Diablo 2 within 48 hours (46 something), normal difficulty. but we were playing in a group. first time playing. before the expansion. necromancer.

nah, once real life hits you square in the face, no game happens to be more entertaining...

I played FF7 through beginning to end without sleeping. I think it was around 70 hours. It wrecked me for 5 days afterwards though.

I don't see what the big deal is with real life. I've tried it. It didn't take.

have any of you guys been scolded for playing a video game in public by a complete stranger? I was standing in line at work getting my lunch and this one lady with her kids basically told me to drop the game and told me to stare into space like an utter moron like all the "normal adults" were doing.

"You have other hearts trapped within you as well, dont you?"
"You're that guy from last time! What are you talking about?!"
    "The other Hearts within you."
    "Hearts trapped within me....?"
