You might be going too deep. I would try lunges(w/weight) instead.

14 is generally freshmen year of high school, which is the normal year you gotta start if you want to make varsity level sports.

sidenote: I started working out again! I take hip hop classes now. SO much fun!

Yeah, I know. There were guys I knew who were taking streroids and creatine and stuff at school. The pressure for kids to excel at sports and academics from a young age is getting out of hand.

I know it's a common practice these days to believe a 14 year old a child, but at this rate it's going to become "fact" that a child doesn't have sentience, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to run a marathon until they're at least 20.
I didn't say anywhere that you shouldn't do exercise at a young age. Hell, I'm all for that. Too many tubby kids out there these days. Anyways, I said that doing weights at a young age (14) isn't good. Maybe it is a generalisation, but I would think that it's true for the majority. Of course there will be 14 yr olds who are much bigger than their classmates, with more muscle and stuff, but they're not the rule, they're the exception.

Can a 14yr old run a marathon? Probably. Should they? Probably not. The majority of marathon winners are not young. They're 25+. Sure they can do it sooner, but it's better for their bodies to wait.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. It's a long standing tradition on this forum for me stand up for the concept that a human body begins going inescapably downhill from around the 28-33 age range; therefore making "the prime of your life" your mid to late teens.

That said, you can see how this isn't going to end with a mutual understanding.
