Probably because he was a psycho with a knife. And trying to subdue a guy with a knife in a cramped space like a bus will likely get you stabbed for your trouble.

I wanted to know why the guy suddenly stabbed the kid. The article stated that they weren't sitting next to each other before the whole thing happened so the kid didn't do anything.

Maybe the kid's ipod was playing "I kissed a girl" too loud.

apparently they didn't know each other and there was no apparent motive.

the guy just lost it. needs to be cooped up somewhere nice and isolated for life.
