So, I've been neglecting to mention any further news on the macroscopic implementation of nanotechnology.
Wellp, I should be going off for a week or so [soon] to help assemble [and hopefully document] the construction of a composite bridge that, among some pretty impressive design criteria, will include pieces of Paulownia infused with an epoxy resin loaded with industrial quality carbon nanotubes.
Pictures and possibly diagrams to come.
And now, a few other things about the bridge. It will have embedded fiber optics for use in measuring how it endures weathering and loadbearing, a high grip surface for better safety, and a couple of other inclusions.
How much will it cost? That seems pretty advanced to have some douche drive his Ford F150 over every day.

Where is this bridge going to be built, and how long will it take. To me it would seem like this bridge will take a while to build. Sounds very cool please update when you can.
It's a bridge SECTION, as in the part of the road you drive upon, and what undergoes real world failure most often. [not those rare, spetacular, and crowd pleasing support failure catastrophes]
Well, to be correct, real world degradation, bridges, roads, and the general means of supporting modern ground transportation undergo enourmous strains, and are constantly in need of maintenance. Huge sums of money have to be sunk to constantly evaluate these structures and determine which ones need shoring up, can be left alone for now, active repair, emergency repair, decomissioning, and so on.
Anyways, I really couldn't begin to estimate the cost of this section, but I expect it to be around 300-350% more expensive than a standard section. This would be compensated for by it's self-monitoring properties and expected ridiculous lifespan.
And sd, that's pretty much the point of this bridge, it's so that it can TAKE those douche's fagotry. And keep them safe.
I'm not sure where it's going to be emplaced, but it shouldn't take all that long to assemble in situ, and switching it out will should only take a night.
