And the Dali Lama, yeah sure, he wants the country to be autonomous. Just like he wants to reinforce the traditional hierarchy of slavery originally in Tibet.

A bit of my true position: I'm actually distrusting of all media that reports something alarming. There is always a bias that warps facts to suit a position. That is what "news" reports are.

Investing in != Respect

Putting money into a destabilized region is not evidence of cultural respect. You know when people say stuff like "It's just business, its nothing personal"... well this time its the opposite - It's personal and it is not business.

Second of all, think about the envy the West had when China nearly instantaneously responded to the 8.2 magnitude earthquake that hit the Sichuan province.

Yeah and they're handling that beautifully.

This is starting to get unreasonable. Because people collect ideas from media in the languages they understand, when an idea that came from another source that's in another language, ideas clash, and hostilities happen.

I am proud to be Chinese. The people, the culture, the language, the arts, the sciences, there is much that I love about China.

However, most news in the US about China is focused on how corrupt the people are, how Chinese industry is hurting the world, how the government undermines human rights. Do you see bias? Do you see contempt North American and European media have against China?

Everyone, give us a break! We're happy to host the Olympics in Beijing and it is for the interest of World Peace and international affiliation, but biased media and secret detrimental rumors are making something wonderful into some kind of sinister plot to usurp hypnotic control over the world.

Well, the hypnotic control is an exaggeration, but the point is media lies. We love how it lies to humor us, but we must be away that in serious media the same media causes mistrust and misunderstanding.

So don't go talking trash about China just because you saw what may just be a bad rumor flying around and believe it to be true.

Heck, just a few hours ago, the news reported that aliens are real and that the US government just tried to cover up their existence for 40 years. This is from a Chinese news channel, so it just shows that bias is universal.

This thread is why Taipei > Beijing.
