The onset of the future...
What event do you think [IN YOUR OPINION] will mark the onset of the "future". Try things that aren't obvious like giant robot suits and space colonies.
So far I got:
The day when the paper thin screen costs less than an actual sheet of real paper
The day we finally grow meat on plants.
The day we can take a over the counter shot to instantly get rid of a headache, with no side effects.
Bionic eyes/ears.
The ability to regrow limbs.
Wireless everything.
A toaster thats internet ready.

The day the car companies realies that Fuel cells will actually work, get them working and stop using gasoline, diesel, and biofuels etc and start using Fuel Cells in viacles instead.

Everybody knows that in the future we'll all wear the same ugly ass silver jump suit. >_>
But other then that;
The day every modern car in the world isn't run by gas/other fuel which is limited to a certain degree.
Where dreams can be recorded.
Where physical computers doesnt exist, but every humen got a "hub" to log on, images transported directly to the brain, where you make the options you want by thinking.
Thats the future for me, but sure, flying cars and android workers can also do the trick.

as we can download blue prints of machines/devices from the internet
and "print" it out and use it.
