Its long been known that real gundams wouldn't be able to move under their own weight.

Aren't there also scientists that say a Brontosaurus couldn't survive outside of the water?

What's about Gundam's made out of that newfangled carbon nanotubes? Or what about those bucky balls(on an aside, I am rusty on my chemistry, aren't they the same thing, just spherical instead of cylindrical?)?

Who needs a suite of armor when you have UFO's, which already exist and built by the US government, who can do light-speed.

I find it very difficult to believe a Gundam couldnt' move under its own weight. They're not that big and not that heavy.

    One of my favorite gundams...

Shit your average tank is over 60 tons.

A tank doesn't walk, it just roll over two sets continuous tracks, that not only move, steer, but distribute the tank weight!

We are talking about biped motion, where, you'd have to have some kind of motor powering a 2ton leg, up,forward. Not only to mention that removing that one leg from the ground would simply shift all the weight to the other leg, meaning you have a strong enough leg to suport 7.5ton.
Now even if you can somehow find and fit a motor in there to move that one leg, you got to solve how to distribute all that weight on the ground since 7.5ton you would be sinking like you are walking in quicksand.

^That asumption is wrong. You make it sound like all the weight is on the top half of the gundam. If anything, all the weight should come from the legs. If you look at pictures of gundam, the legs aren't thin, but rather big and bulky.

    ^Thanks Yoko^

Dude... a single cinderblock could support 7.5 tons. Thats 15,000 lbs. The weight of a medium sized truck.

I've seen a similar type of exoskeleton robot around 2 years ago that wasn't supported by rope or anything, but it was real bulky and ugly looking.
