I was guessing, but trees do conduct electricity (not very well, but they do), if they didn't why would lightning strike them (lightning is always trying to find the easiest route to earth), don't forget that living trees contain lots of water in them.

Oh I remember trying to make one of these when I was small.
Me, Aura, three girls from around by us gathered one day while feeding the stray kitten we found and decided then and there to make one. Me and Aura agreed to forage for some nails and hammers and other tools(I think we brought a spanner in the end). Two of the others were charged with getting a supply of wood. There were skips a little way up cause of the demi-annual neighbourhood clean-up we used to have back then, so this wasn't a difficult job. The toughest of us had the roughest job. She had to distract her brother and other such annoyances from trying to "help" and then take over. We were old enough at this stage to have learnt the hard way about the strategies of boys.
So we separated and invaded. Weren't even noticed carrying heavy, sharp-ass tools up onto a two metre high wall and jumping off the other-side.
Only the lot of us weren't tall enough to climb the big tree. and the rest were too small and simply not good enough. We ended up building a shed.....well three walls and a roof. Four whole days it stayed up. We barely fought over whose fault it was that it fell down. (I still blame that little tom-boy.)
    Good times.

Proud we were......until our dad noticed the f**ked tools......

But yay, tree houses are cool and, if there are bigger trees around, lightening shouldn't be the much of a problem.

    Edit:How much are they?

    I love Steal! <3

Yeah, they don't conduct electricity very well at all, it's just that it's still better than dirt, which is mostly various forms of silicates...

YOU brought a spanner chiza. I was a child not a 'special' child.
I brought and used a hammer like I was meant to.
There're still boards from that attached to the tree. Broken and rotting away but still there after nearly 10yrs...
I vote for another go! Let's forage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought electricity struck the highest standing object, no matter the conductivity.

Nope, it the easiest route to earth, the tall tree happens to be a better conducter than air.

What if there was a field and there was a thunderstorm there, and there was a tree standing 250 feet tall, and a metal pole standing 240 feet tall, both 30 feet apart in the field, which would the lightning hit then?

As the lightning bridges the gap between a negative charge in the clouds towards a positive charge at surface, whether the lightning strike hits the tree or pole may depend at the last second on where the greatest positive charge is at that moment. Which might be the pole, the tree, or maybe at a spot 20 feet away from both where some unlucky squirrel was sitting.

Alright, so there could be a city made in the trees. I mean what's the probability of lightning hit a city in the trees?
