Vista (as a system) is not crap, it has teething problems. Its interface however is fucking aweful, and I'm not just saying that because I haven't figured out how to use it, it just doesn't appear to have the user in mind.
For example, what is the point of splitting up the display options?
When selecting files and folders, the selection shading dosen't have enough contrast to make it clearly visable.
Copying or moving files will be near imposible for users who don't understand how holding Ctrl effects drag and dropping now that the handy menu has been removed from the left of the window (if you wanted to view the folder tree in XP all you had to do is click the big button marked "folders").
Destop icons are now bigger, meaning I can't get as many icons on the desktop.
Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del takes you away from the desktop when all I want is the task manager, I haven't tried it yet, but how will this effect the way I start up games when I want to close explorer before playing. This isn't so much a problem, rather it is just plain annoying.
There are other gripes that I have, but these can all be fixed by changing settings (and turning off all the security features completely and thus negating 95%b of the advantage Vista has over XP).
I'm still trying to find out if its possible to uninstall IE7 and WMP11 and install the previous versions of each.
As for XP being safer than Vista, no, definately not, that is unless you have disabled all the security features to get rid of that insanely annoying pop-up.
