Vista (as a system) is not crap, it has teething problems. Its interface however is fucking aweful, and I'm not just saying that because I haven't figured out how to use it, it just doesn't appear to have the user in mind.

When selecting files and folders, the selection shading dosen't have enough contrast to make it clearly visable.
Copying or moving files will be near imposible for users who don't understand how holding Ctrl effects drag and dropping now that the handy menu has been removed from the left of the window (if you wanted to view the folder tree in XP all you had to do is click the big button marked "folders").
Destop icons are now bigger, meaning I can't get as many icons on the desktop.
Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del takes you away from the desktop when all I want is the task manager, I haven't tried it yet, but how will this effect the way I start up games when I want to close explorer before playing. This isn't so much a problem, rather it is just plain annoying.
There are other gripes that I have, but these can all be fixed by changing settings (and turning off all the security features completely and thus negating 95%b of the advantage Vista has over XP).
I'm still trying to find out if its possible to uninstall IE7 and WMP11 and install the previous versions of each.
As for XP being safer than Vista, no, definately not, that is unless you have disabled all the security features to get rid of that insanely annoying pop-up.

^ about the security, I thought it had something to do with memory being randomized...or something.
Hell if I know, what I do know is that someone somewhere will beat it, it'll get patched and then it'll be beaten again, and this will keep happening and we'll be no better off than we were before.

...God I hope so. Or one of the major points of a service patch would suddenly be a lie. A Li(Microsoft'd).

I feel like being contrary. I vote yes.
I love Steal! <3
I don't really care, not like it's bothering me.
Well, it affects me. I just recently bought a new laptop and it came with Vista, no choice. Dammit. I've tried to use it but it's annoying, and unstable.
I have a copy of XP (genuine!) which I want to install, but Vista won't allow a downgrade. I've tried booting straight from the disc, but when it tries to install, it says it can't detect a hard drive!! ??
I'd say that's a fairly safe statement.

Also, for those worried about Vista's drain on system resources, I never mentioned "Vista Lite." Nope, not once.
