Default Jumping in front of a bullet...

Hey i just walked past the TV and i overheard CNN i think they discussing a marine who just got the medal of honor i believe it was. Well anyway he dived ontop of a grenade that landed in his troop and jumped on top of it to save his comerades. This had me thinking , how many of you think you would have the protective instinct to sacrifice themselves for everyone else.

I myself dont think i would have the ablity to make that split second decisinon

I dunno. I doubt jumping on it would be my first reaction. I'd rather kick it or something. I'd love to see a video of someone doing it and surviving like that guy did.

He survived? How is that even possible. His insides would have been completely shredded. I figured he died, and he was awarded the medal after his death to honour his sacrifice.

^ He did die (what did you think would have happened?)

If I recall correctly he used a helmet, not that it helped (no, I'm not confusing this with the Simpsons, and Medals of Honor are rare enough that I'm pretty sure this is the incident I'm recalling).

The story I heard he had on his bulletproof vest and grabbed someones backpack and put both that and his body over the grenade and it blew up, they said all he had was a very strong case of shock and a nosebleed.

^ Not the same guy the OP was talking about, in your article he's an RM, so I'm pretty sure he doesn't qualify for medal of honor.

Wow, I really dont know If I should call him a hero or really stupid. He probably could have done other things, but the fact the he gave up his life to save his friends, thats something only a few people are capable of.
