Latina girls and black girls don't do it. Odd.
Neither of those two groups is particularly known for politeness.

Also, all of you guys are on crack if you think being small == being pacifistic.

More small people I know are err, Ornery cause they feel they have something to prove.

I'm sorry Steal, did that on purpose, but you've been pissy at anything and everything for weeks now. Do you realize you just made a topic bitching about someone apologizing for a perfectly normal situation that happens to all races, ages, sizes, and basically any category theoretically possible. Hell, I've seen obnoxious white jochs do the same thing when they were walking in opposite directions. It's not that big a deal.
I think he's onto something here.

I generally only apologise to people if I'm really trying to piss them off.

Like, black people. I love how it gets them all worked up.

Its just courtesy. And its nowhere near as annoying as when a customer asks for something thats not in stock and you have to appologise for it. I'm not sorry, I fucking hate customers, why should I have to appologise for something thats not my fault and I don't fucking care about! ........bastard customers.

So I turn to her retreating back and say "For what" and if I'm lucky she'll turn around and say "for almost bumping into me" and I'll cock my head to the side and say "You didn't touch me or even come all that close to me... its cool don't apologize for that"
Wow Steal. You sure showed her.

Shhh Jamie, he's a New Yorker, he has appearances to maintain... even if the rest of us are just being polite and hiding our sniggering for the most part.

I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

This is pretty fuck'n dumb. It's a courtesy... nothing more. Personally, I don't say I'm sorry, I say excuse me. Then again... I still hold the door for women, so I'm pretty much well out of the norm.

If you want to make a point about saying you are sorry when people don't really mean it, 98's example is far better. There are far too many people with no manners or sense of politeness around, please don't further encourage this attitude.

It's always refreshing and endearing to Humanity itself when a guy actually bothers holding a door open for a woman without an ulterior motive.
Oddly enough, here in the homophobic South, it's a daily occurrence for me to see other men, myself included, hold the door for more than five seconds when another man is coming. Disturbing, I know.

Small people are scary ><. I have a 5'1" friend. She's scary ><. Mind you, I think she's ornery just 'cause she likes being ornery.

Canadian guys still suck. Only time I get someone to hold the door open is when I look like I can't physically do it myself 'cause I have too much crap in my hands. It's sad, if you want help you have to wear a skirt, flounce it a bit and look pathetic and sweet to get any help at all.
Thus the polarization of Canadian women to:
"I can do it myself thank-you-very-much-now-go-away"
    or:
"will you pay attention to me if I spread my legs a little further?"

I hate highschool girls. and middle-school girls, that are f-ing shivering 'cause they're wearing the top half of a skirt.
though, there are some good exceptions of actual women who aren't polarized ^_^, I admire them and know some personally. ^__^
