Thread: So if you were to be transported to the Medieval Period, what job would you choose?

So you wake up one morning and there's this guy teabagging you, but you end up choking and pass out. The next thing you know you're in the Middle Ages, around the first Crusade, and an angel pops in to choose your profession ala generic MMORPG. What would you be?

Easily enough I'd pick being the Pope.

I'd be one of the strongest men in Europe, and I'd be rich enough to hold orgies in the Vatican for the clergy.

Screw you AK, I'm going to be the anitpope then, since I had the same idea.

I'd be a tavern keeper. I'd own bar wenches. And beer. Besides, I don't think pope/ruler of the realm really qualifies as a job.

I'd be a secondborn prince to a Christian Kingdom so that I could get the royalty, riches, palace, and girls without any responsibilities to boot (see, I don't care for glory). And I'd have the Pope's support.

It all depends if you go back with the memories of your prior existence in tact. If so then I'd go for scholar and take the information we take for granted here and now and become the polymath to which other polymath's aspire, a god damn visionary of a kind to make Da Vinci, Aristotle, Su Song and all weep with shame and inferiority. Well at least in theory.

Once I'd made the relatively simpler discoveries, I'd start laying out plans for things we have in our own time like genetic engineering, television, the internet, etc. I'd also leave plans just to fuck with future generations, like idea's for blockbuster films. Once I'd made all the non-heretical 'discoveries' known, if I'd been put there early enough, I'd start confronting the stranglehold religion had (more the temporal power than the ideaolgy, though of course I'd have provided my own philosphy). I'd do this last as it'd more than likely see me quite dead.

Oh and if I could choose a spawn location I'd likely go for Constantinople. I might even be able to get away with my de-reglioning from there.

HOWEVER, if I just got put there without access to all my prior memories, then I'd choose unemployed, find the nicest nubile, buxom wench, have a thoroughly satisfying time, and then throw myself from the tallest building/cliff. The medieval ages sucked copious amounts of bollocks.

Pope has no Popemobile then. Set fail.

I would be a merchant. And hope that Spice and Wolf taught me something about it.

I'd be a Pope, too. Enough time to go around for all of us. Besides, they had a female Pope in the Middle Ages, so why not?

Honestly, I just want to be able to take a bath and wear clean clothes when I feel like it.

That or a witch. No one wants to sleep with scary old witches. I could end up dying in some crusade, though.

I'd be a bard, merrily singing away my days, dressed in tight pants, and being mistaken for a minstrel.
