    I think that for the safety of the workers it should be leagalized. I saw an information show that was going in and looking at prostitution in a poorer country where it was legal. Aside from the fact that it's bad for the older women who can't feed themselves that way anymore, they had regular check ups and were certified as clean.

    In our society legalizing it could mean health-care, less spreading of STDs and STIs, also I don't know how many of you have heard of the Robert Pickton Case....
    CBC.ca News - The Pickton Trial
    CBC News In Depth: Missing lives
    Looking at this case aone, it's a strong reason for the legalization of prostitution.

    MadDog::: I am personally against prostituition, but I understand it exsists and looking at all the family members hurt by the dissapearence of these women... Everyone has some value and the right to protection.

    Yup

    As silvermoon I am against prostitution, but legalising it would at least avoid the abuses some prostitutes, generally the poorest ones and those who prostitute themselves because they are not given other solution to live, have to endure.

    Ok I guess it can be legal, but no more street work, you need to be in a Brothel or the police will send you to jail... with the proper goverment set up it can work... and Taxes are never a bad thing for any goverment >_>

    I wish that was the case of the people.

    There's no big difference with the current situation, in which prostitution hasn't been legalised. Moreover, some people go into shady business which include minors. If you legalise it, at least you can have some control over this.

    @steal

    for spitzer, the main issue wasn't prostitution, but going behind his wife's back and having sex with another woman, added onto the hypocrisy since he was a crusader against stuff like prostitution (he busted two prostitution rings).

    in any case, i thought prostitution *was* legal (except for minors) ? or am i misunderstanding something =\ in any case, i have no problems with it. if people want to sell their bodies, that's their choice. personally i wouldn't and i wouldn't want me potential children doing it either.

    That's part of it, but if I recall correctly legalization didn't exactly fit into his expressed political views. So it's like one of those republicans caught soliciting (gay) sex from undercover cops. nobody likes a hypocrite after all.

    Everything I've said so far implies yes.

    These are just my opinions. I already stated that I understand prostitution will never disappear so the only way to control it and reduce the dangers of it would be to legalise it, but at the same time legalising it is like saying that that prostitution is ok. That's the only part that I disagree with.
