Default Keeping up with the times...

Wealth, pollution now deadly sins | NEWS.com.au

THE seven deadly sins have grown to at least 14 after the Vatican updated its 1400-year-old list of the worst moral failures to reflect the modern world.

The new deadly sins that may lead to eternal damnation are polluting, genetic engineering, being obscenely rich, drug dealing, abortion, pedophilia and causing social injustice, The Times newspaper has reported.
Now its a sin to be rich, or try to cure cancer. I wonder what the age of consent is for the Vatican? I don't care what anyone says this pisses me off worse than when they got rid of Limbo. Fucking tools. At least now I can take comfort in knowing for a fact that the KKK is on the bullet train to Phlegethon.

Kinda reminds me of a terry pratchet story where some people had laws that are "nuggin" I think (was in the monstorous regiment).

They don't know what they're talking about. They themselves are obscenely rich. Abraham was obscenely rich. Job was obscenely rich. King Solomon was obscenely rich. Nowhere in The Bible does it say that being rich is a sin. It just says that the love of money is the root of all sorts of injurious things. Loving money is bad, having it isn't. Money is a tool just like anything else.

You seem to find it normal that some people are insanely rich while most are dust poor... (it was also directed to Ferozban btw (and vatican and church aren't people)).
I agree your second example about genetic engineering is more open to debate and criticism, but I'd need to know more about this new "mortal sin" before commenting as I fear the term was oversimplified for advertising purposes and that the Chruch has nothing against people trying to cure cancer as long as they follow some basic rules.

Overall, there is nothing really new though..

These are so stupid. Its pathetic. My problem is they're VAGUE. Drug dealing? Should we banish pharmacists because they peddle Ritalin? Vicodin? Whats this about genetic engineering? Does that include those super tough tomatoes that survive early winter? Fucking pedophilia AGAIN. BULLSHIT.

ARGH. This is nothing but shucking loads of pop psychology under the pretense of religion.

I totally agree with the fact they are vague, but so were the 7 firsts mortal sins right ? They are supposed to be vague too, as you can't summarise things in one or 2 words anyway.

As for drug dealing, the meaning is obvious ^^ Blame english and the fact it doesn't make a difference between drugs (medicaments) and drugs (narcotics).

Not really. Pride is pretty easy to define. So is wrath, envy, lust, gluttony... all of them really, these aren't exactly abstract concepts. Heroin was a prescription drug at one time. Does that make heroin dealers exempt from the wrath of the superdiety?
