They are easier to define, but at what point does they start being a mortal sin ? This is quite vague.

Previous mortal sins were indeed more tightly linked with the individual while the new ones seem to be way more global (except for pedophilia and abortions)... polluting ? After what extent does it become "mortal" ? Being obscenely rich ? How much is "Obscenely" ??
But as the goal is to make people *think* about these matters, I don't think it is really necessary for them to be precise.

Here, drug dealing is about people ruining others lives and capacity of reasoning by getting them addicted to some dangerous drug, and I think drug dealers should be able to determine whether they are really helping others or not...

Then bring them up in sermons or whatever. Making them mortal sins? You, sir, are going to HELL for littering and pouring bleach down the drain! Its insanity. These are people's AFTERLIVES they're fucking around with.

This is the problem of being too vague, people starts worrying without reason
Don't worry, pouring bleach down the drain will never be a sin, except if the drain is someone's oesophagus but this would be another problem

They were fucking around with that from the start. What afterlife?Even if there is a so called afterlife, it's not as if they decide anything regarding it. So maybe this must be the fate of people to stupid to judge for themselves. listening to these guys.

i didnt mean nor have i said that worldwide disparity is normal or just.

what i obvoiusly said was that the vatikan is full of hypocrites for judging rich people as sinner while they themself are obsessivly rich (the vatikan and the church in general, obviously that does not mean that the church is a person. i mean the leaders of the church and the vatikan and those who benefit from the richness of the church

my post wasnt that heavily encoded that you couldt have understood it

Feroban, it's called the Vatican okay? Also the 'heads' of the Vatican and the Church are not 'obscenely rich'. Get your facts straight before you jump on the blame wagon. Most heads of church are the opposite of rich, the ones that are rich usually worked an entire lifetime doing something else before the 'calling'. The people that use religion/church as a scam are scum, these people are generally the really rich ones people either fall right for or condemn. Also, the Vatican is not full of 'hypocrites,' while i do not know enough to come to a personal judgment on them, i doubt you also know enough facts to be so prejudiced about them. Don't judge many on the actions of a few.

In regards to drugs, it's pretty fucking obvious the they meant narcotics/harmful recreational drugs. Even at that, if you need to use it for a good reason i doubt God will condemn you for it, and yes i do believe there is a God.

In regards to Genetic Engineering though, if it's just left at that i do agree that it's a little too broad. I am against cloning and and the like but not so much against gene splicing.

I know a shitload of pot smokers? No harmful effects on the body as far as I know and no addictive qualities (so they say) ... is that a damnable offense? Especially considering people have been getting high off of plants for as long as we've had fire...

if i may interject- who gives a damn what the vatican says? They are full of crap. although the point of living obscenely rich makes some sense. If you view money as sustenance and survival(as shelter, food, clothing can be bought by it) people who make millions and billions are living in sin because to them a yacht and a mansion is worth more than say another person's life? And I also agree with the whole genetic engineering thing too. We tamper with nature waaay too much and it will bite us in the ass one day.
Oh yeah, fuck all that is holy
Jesus, God, Allah, and Zeus are about as real as Casper the friendly ghost
The Bible, Koran, and Torah are all ignorant texts
If you need to fear a god to do right in this world there is something wrong with you
