Barbara Fowler, single-handedly dropped hundreds of policy holders like Bates from the rolls every year.

The shocker: the company awarded her bonuses based on how many policy holders she dropped.

If the oil industry didn't have a monopoly on public hatred, I swear to whatever is good in the universe, that the health insurance industry would be biting its heels to take its place.

I'll say more on this later, but just to play off Lewis Black a little: That's the kind of evil we should be fucking with.

Saw this on CNN. Fowler got a $20,000 raise in 2003 iirc.

It's sadden me. I hope Fowler will fucking rot in hell.

I can't blame Fowler though. She was acting in her own best interest career wise. However what I can fault her for is not quitting her job.

Plenty of jobs require... uh, "different" morals, though. We'd have far fewer lawyers and businesspeople if everyone stuck to the morals they have (or should have). I'm not justifying what she did, though. The way health care works in the US shocks me (although that's partially because we pay for our health care through taxes, not this). I remember watching Sicko in one of my classes; although I'm fully aware that Michael Moore is biased and doesn't reveal all the facts, it'd be difficult to deny the validity of the examples of the American health care system that he presented. It's shocking and disgusting. Honestly, how do you people live with it?!

We call it democratic capitalism and smile.

I mean, waits are terrible here, but is IS free (socialism ftw). They have been known to do some good things too, act as healthcare insurance while sending people to other countries for treatement they can't provide...
