Yeah, that reason was that there was no standing American Army and the citizens themselves were a militia - necessary for the protection of their country. With the creation of the US Army, a militia (and its weapons) are pointless.

Yeah, and we still kicked your behinds. =P

Apparently, the legal nature of guns in the US is causing problems in Canada, too; that's where people are smuggling guns from. Innocent people are dying here because of those laws. And Steal has a point - there's no need for everyone to have guns these days. Wars are almost always conducted overseas, and even if there were to be fighting in the US, technology has advanced to the point where a bunch of Joe Averages with guns is not going to actually make a difference in a war. That's what the army is for. They can have guns; regular citizens shouldn't.

So, what the main reason that the guns still are in the hands of regular citizens? I mean, are the profit of guns that big since they keep making it legal to buy ammo/guns in supermarkets etc..

i'm not sure why people want guns so badly. self-defense is a stupid argument: the arms race, for instance, hardly made this world a safer place. in fact, it made the world so much more dangerous.

do we have any pro-gun people on the forums to tell us the other side of things ?

I'd guess the main reason is that the rednecks think they have more power if they get to own their gun. God forbid just having weapons for hunting, they need them to protect themselfs!
While, if you're in south africa having a gun is a bad thing. If you get robbed by a group of 5 and pull a gun, when they aren't showing any, 10 more with guns will apear and kill you.

I wouldn't know why Korea apologised for that. Cho's mental disorder had nothing to do with them, and he got those weapons in the US.

Anyway, no one will be able to take weapons away from people until they can feel safe.

It's the mentality. We are one. We like to take credit for the sucess of our members, and we also take the responsibility/guilt/shame of what some of our members do.

It was a sarcastic remark/dark humor to what cpr said. Or well, it was atleast an attempt to anyway.
