I'm not saying that method should be used I'm simply saying that using looks are something that people judge strangers they have no other knowledge of with.

And Dante responded better than I could have.

You can aways have a good idea on what kind of personality a person have based solely on their looks.

I wouldn't expect a goth dressed girl to be a happy go lucky type...
So yes, you can have a quick psych evaluation of that person's persona, and judge if that is what you seek in a partner or not.

    And "ugly" is just relative.

What you might find not very attractive isn't necessary what is for other.
I see that on my friends, two of my friend's girlfriends aren't exact what I would call "hot" they are more on the scale of .. "ok~"

But oddly enough I was commenting with another friend (Yes! I'm a horrible person!)
And he didn't find that, he said on a scale from 1-10 She would score about 8, And I said 4.

But at same time he said, the girls that I go out with, scale 12-15 on his scale.. my standards are way too high he said.

I guess finding the perfect person for you, isn't anything bad, as long you doesn't forget that is best to end up with someone you are confortable with, then die seeking the perfect girl.

I once met this farmer; that man dresses like a low-life. However, I've seen better manners, and more intelligence from that man, than from people I've seen wearing suits every day.

Appearances are good as a catch but, never to form some sort of judgement toward other people. In my opinion, that's a terrible idea.

Just to add another example to Dante's point: There's a homeless guy around here, he's always partially drunk, but if you sit down and talk to him on the bus, he'll out-debate anyone with philosophy. He is even rumored to have a PhD, I'd not be surprised if he did.

I think to use looks as a determiner weither to approach someone or not isn't a terrible thing, afterall, a fair amount of a person's looks can be determined by who they are or what they aspire to be, particularily where clothing or makeup or even the way they walk is concerned. lol For instance, I'm much less likely to approach someone who walks with a swagger.

    *shrugs*

So what else can you use when you first see someone? What kinds of body-language do you look for?

    This man speaks the truth.

Actually I think you just have to consider how your standard of whats ugly-cute-hot in consideration with the general view. Possibly not the easiest thing to do but it's better than just going after the hottest girl in town, simply because shes the hottest girl in town.
Simply, for me, if she has at least average intelligence or higher it's a plus. Same with personality, as for some reason as I get to know any woman/girl they either start looking like they have downs or looking like a complete hag if either of those are poor.(I think I screwed up whatever point I was trying to make there, meh)

True, apperances are only skin deep.. but i said a "good" not "perfect way"

Its ok to get an idea, you of course if based only on looks risk getting it wrong.

Its about saying to not judge a book by its cover, but we're not talking about books, and I don't a great book that is falling appart XD
