I can not even think on what kind of excruciating pain it must be to have it done.
Now my question is, how long does it last? the skin should regenerate itself...
Don't blame me if it was answered in that link, I just couldn't read it all, just thinking made me shiver.

Its scar tissue so I'd guess its permanent. Even if the skin (not sink lol) grows back it still is gonna be different than the original skin.

Haha I thought that big blank space was supposed to have a picture so I was waiting for it to load...
But anyhow, I think whoever goes through with this would be drugged up beyond feeling...although I wouldn't want to imagine how it'd feel after the drugs wear off.

Scarification actually isn't very new... And just so you know, you HAVE to do it drugged up (not drunk as you need some semblance of control, maybe just a little drunk), or the involuntary reactions and tensing risk messing things up. So its not a high tolerance for pain.
Although, as I recall used to be some African and South American tribes used a version of scarification as a right of passage... so I suppose technically you could do it undrugged, they used super-simple designs though not anything at all like what she's got and in places where there wasn't much muscle (Face, tops of shoulders, near bones type places far away from deep muscle and easily cleaned w/o others assisting), so I'm still guessing she is drugged up mostly.
