Let's talk politics!
politics = blood.
I'd like to see some intellectual thoughtful topics in this place every now and then.
Anyway, today's bloodshed topic is... immigration.
How do you feel about immigration? Pro? Anti? Why?

Definitely pro. Why? Because I don't really like borders at all. Everybody should be able to live were they please as long as they behave themselves. And they can support themselves. I think the biggest criminal in the immigration question is good old mister job-giver whom looks down upon people who can't pronounce the language as a native and therefore should clean instead of getting a job as the much needed doctor. There should of course be requirements, but in todays society racism is a deciding factor.

I dis/agree with you, first of all doctors are not much needed and second I think that if you are in an English speaking community you should be able to speak it. Just as say Mexico I would expect my doctor to at least be able to speak Spanish. You act like the people working as housekeepers can speak and understand English on the same degree as you or I, however that is most likely not the case. I don't mind someone speaking with an accent, if you are not speaking in your first language I can easily expect and forgive mistakes.
I am not however saying that they should be forced to work as a housekeep, I met a woman who was qualified to be a teacher I believe? Anyway I think that they should be able to get free language training, considering it is one of the biggest cultural divides next to racism and religion. Of your opinion that racism is a deciding factor however, I think that scale which you presume is a bit biased. Which is not say racism isn't problem god knows it is, just that I don't think it nearly as big of one as you do.

I want secured borders so the government knows who is entering and exiting the country. Once access along borders is controlled, then deal with immigration policy. It's an unending problem to kick someone out of a country for being there illegally so long as the situation along the borders will allow them sneak back in again later. That's a waste of time, money, and manpower.
On that, lew's didn't mean not being able to speak english. He was infact pointing to those who speak english with big accents, that even if they might be the most qualified for a job, might not get it as someone who might be way less qualified has a perfect english. Which is extreamly wrong
As for immigration in itself I am 100% for it, aside from the induviduals that doesn't behave.
As long as they behave it's good. The people who behave should be sent back.
An example of severe not behaving is not "working", getting money from the state, while driving around in a $200000 car. That belongs to their grandmom/dad/other, and they get money from way's that are less than legal.
Or by just being smaller criminals.
I thought politics was a taboo topic here... just like religion? o_O

I am pro immigration. I do not like the number of people here that don't speak English (I think if you're coming here you should be offered government sponsored lessons in English, the increased tax revenue from the flood of people should cover it) but I'm cool because I know their American born kids will speak English. I don't buy the bullshit about all these illegal immigrants stealing American jobs because its just whining. If a company could find an american to pick oranges for 3 dollars an hour they'd hire him/her. Americans don't want the jobs the illegals are doing, but they don't want the illegals to be the ones to do them. Corporations probably don't want to have to pay minimum wage for the services of Americans so theyre likely biased as well. But on the flipside if you open the borders and streamline the immigration process we could see a massive boom in many industries like construction and farming.
I dunno... I'll complete that thought later.
I am pro. Immigrants need to serve in the armed forces if they come here illegaly. This way we can keep track of them and then they can learn about american ways. Everyone in the US should speak engilsh. There are people born here that don't. Don't get pissed off, if I don't understand want you want.
Places like New Orleans are hanging by a life line to rebuild. The thing that is helping them are the illegals. They work hard abd CHEAP.

Yes, it should be the the offical first language. I wouldn't stop anyone from speaking their native language. America is a melting pot, but if you are born here, english is you native language.

I would disagree. Most Americans willingly align themselves with the country of their ancestors. Very few are actually descendants of the people originally in the 13 colonies. I know plenty of people who have english as their first language and still speak the tongue or dialect of their grandparents. I'd say if your born here English is the language youre going to use most often in your life. Bah. Making it the official language would be going against what this country stands for anyway.
