Default I don't know whether to feel glad or pity.

So North Koreans are finally breaking out of their brainwashed totalitarian society through Chinese bootleg. My brothers back home are pulling their weight!
But what they see are all the exaggerations and falsifications of foreign cultures that will ultimately lead to a vast disappointment if they actually do escape Kim Jong Il's regime.
But I guess we should be glad they're getting any outside contact at all, right?

Come up with something constructive to say or don't post at all.
Or at least post a witty and/or funny response.

I post about Asian issues because guess what? Newsflash! I'm Asian! I was born in China! I care about my culture, and I'm raising awareness about it so that we don't get more ignorant foreigners with rash and unfounded assumptions about us.

Oh I thought the thread was about NK opening up for foreign cultures. Like that day will ever come! I swear Kim Jong II is fucking crazy, He actually thinks he can keep an entire country isolated from the rest of the world. I read an article where a Korean Worker made an internationla call, guess what happened to that bloke...poor guy.

I think any information or contact with the outside world is happy news for the North Korans. I doubt they will be disappointed :/

It's kinda like China in the 60's, where the only films they watched were "patriotic" ones denouncing the Japanese. And foreign films were reeeeeally rare. In fact, they were frowned upon.

On a tangent though. Rasz, I really like your sig. Especially that girl's...headphones.

Well, it really is a good thing that north koreans are getting a little information about the outside world, Mojo. It may be through things like pirate products, but any knowledge about the outside world entering that country is good, so that the people can start, even if by a little, to realize how the dictatorship in North Korea doesn´t benefit them at all.

Of course it is. Considering the rise of China as a major player in the world again (during the 14th or 15th century it was the major in the known world), Japan´s new economic growth and the whole importance that the eastern and southeastern Asia had throughout history, it is very normal for me. It is also a region of great importance for the United States, be it economically or strategically speaking.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing that they're using pirated material, I'm saying that it's a bad thing that they get exposed to Hollywood exaggerations and falsifications of Western, especially American, society.

Even though they are gettin overstimulated by hollywoods rain of bad movies, Its still one of theur only ways to get any kind of info what kind of world the Wester sociaties live in. But they will probably be surprised that its not every american made car in America that blows up simply because it drives into a building.
