Default So, what's your opinion on online grammar version 2.

    This was bothering me.

A guy I knew wanted to mass e-mail a lot of people to invite them to our event. But, he typed stuff like "u" instead of "you" and "mi" instead of "my" and claims it's to act more "fun."

So I showed the e-mail to a friend, and she thought it was perfectly fine typing like that. Mind you, this is a friend who rarely goes on the internet at all (30 minutes max a day to places like e-mail and Facebook).

Well, now I am curious if it's just a pet peeve I developed from coming to this forum for way too long and if you guys share my similar opinions.

Thus, that's where this poll comes in. Vote away.

P.S. I ran out of room for voting "I HATE EVERY GRAMMAR ERROR" so if you hate all, post and say you do.

Oh, and since somebody brought up the topic about cell phones, let's talk about that too. How do you guys feel about abbreviating for texting?

@deucee, You have to ask yourself what it means when you have to search your soul to answer questions like that...

And I really like ellipses...that is all.

I am not annoyed when people shortens their messages but, it does annoy me when people use winks in MSN (I'm not sure if the term would actually be Winks but, I'm referring to these smileys that take the place of the actual text; for example: Someone writes "lol" but you get an smiley instead of text). It, most of the times, makes it really difficult to read the message.

    God, me too....
    hmph..

cpr edit. This is what mojo wrote in the original thread: Online grammar is a must. Especially for announcements like that. No one will take you seriously and care about your announcement if you type like a moron.

    Wow. Just friggin wow.

It seems like you either hate them all or don't give a crap. I can't even get a nice bell curve.

@Those who checked everything. What grammar is forgivable, if any?

I didn't put stuff like that on the poll cause I think it's a forum consensus that tyPinG lik TIS is very annoying 2 reAd.

edit: hmr.. I can't attach what other people wrote from the original thread to this thread till they repost or something. Oh, and for those of you who rewrote & rephrased your text from the last thread, thanks!
