Pff...that little pea bomb O_o I read in some article that under the cold war (I think) A russien nuclear sub got the orders to nuke the shit of Denmark, yay O_o luckly the captain of the sub checked out the order and sure enough, the order was a mistake..if he had followed his order, Denmark would have been a different looking country today..
So I still cant understand why they havn't destroyed all their nukes, and keep making new ones..wheres the war where we need a 50 ton bomb O_O

    ...

    *sigh*

You could easily pack this much energy into a much smaller bomb :/
It would be more expensive, being made out of superconducting materials and holding a charge of a few dozen gigawatt's, but still.

Basically, one creates a super-capacitor equivalent of a Tokamak reactor, stuff it with as much electricity as it's containment field can take, and voila! Instant bomb. A dozen gigawatts of electricity being discharged into the surrounding area would instantly vaporize everything within a hundred feet or so, creating an expanding plasma bloom moving... very damned fast.

Meh, they're stickign to the conventional stuff I guess.

And yeah. Putin disbanded the Russian Government today, so yeah. WWIII is coming nearer. Either that or another cold war.

I dunno... the shockwave is nice, but it seems unimpressive, I guess its the lack of light, sound, and fire... I think I'm underestimating the scale of the explosion though.

You can't use it cause this kind of bombs use the oxygen of the atmosphere. The aftermath of a nuclear explosion would be worse than the Chernobyl incident. A large portion of the radiation (if not most of it) was contained under under a lot of cement in Chernobyl.
Also a nuclear bomb will have an affect over the food and water of a region grater than the radius of the explosion it self, the inhabitants of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (along with the environment) suffered the consequences for like 20 years after the explosions. And that is partly because of the measures that were take to limit the radiation , like cleaning the area of the radioactive dust and debris.

"The punch each bomb packs is impressive...but these bombs are huge in both size and weight and I doubt any current ballistic missiles have the necessary payload capacity. I think the heavy class ICBM's had a throw-weight of something like 5 metric tons and the US MOAB alone weighs 21,000 pounds (9.5 metric tons)."
I think they were never intended to be used in missiles. They threw the bomb from a Tupolev-160 and i think the American M.O.A.B. is used the same way.
