With the advent of the Information Age, we are undergoing a period of accelerating change – a period where exponential growth is happening in every facet of human understanding, be it paradigm shifts, computing speed, technological inventions, scientific understanding, human production capacity, etc.
A few pictorial examples follow.
With this exponential increase in technologies comes an exponential increase in the ability for interoperability with these technologies. With these ever increasing matings comes an ever increasing evolution of the end-product.
(An example being the use of heat to sound to electricity devices for cooling – not only can you cool something off, you can extract energy from the cooling process, rather than putting energy INTO the process. Thus it is a feasible method of cooling military grade technologies, i.e. weapons grade lasers, active armor, scram jets, etc.)
We are approaching a technological singularity – and there is absolutely nothing we can predict about what happens beyond.
