    Default Convergence Emergent Technologies

With the advent of the Information Age, we are undergoing a period of accelerating change a period where exponential growth is happening in every facet of human understanding, be it paradigm shifts, computing speed, technological inventions, scientific understanding, human production capacity, etc.

    A few pictorial examples follow.

With this exponential increase in technologies comes an exponential increase in the ability for interoperability with these technologies. With these ever increasing matings comes an ever increasing evolution of the end-product.

(An example being the use of heat to sound to electricity devices for cooling not only can you cool something off, you can extract energy from the cooling process, rather than putting energy INTO the process. Thus it is a feasible method of cooling military grade technologies, i.e. weapons grade lasers, active armor, scram jets, etc.)

We are approaching a technological singularity and there is absolutely nothing we can predict about what happens beyond.

lol, when I read the Threadtitle I thought: "And when is Ishman going to post about the Sigularity" and well you already did
And which kind of singularity are you thinking about? Genetic engeering? AIs? Solving of all energy problems?
I would guess the AI is going to come first.

    Both. The feeling's called excitement.

However, I have some fuzziness about the definition of a technological singularity. Is it the point where computers became able to perceive and process information more competently than humans are or is it the point in which humans gain complete control over their evolution?

Either way, the future's going to be astonishing.

I just hope I live long enough to see something interesting. And hopefully humanity won't get in its own way...

I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

I would be scared. I like technology at the level it is now. If technology becomes too adavanced, privacy may be invaded easily, people could die, and criminals would have the technology to cover it up. If too much power is given to technology it could overthrow us or cause great problems. With technology going so far, resources may run out, pollution will increase as well as taxes. People will become poor as the rich get richer. Then crimes will burst out more than ever, rich people and the government will become corrupt, then in a revolution to act against them, they will die, and our economy might become destroyed. Then with lack of knowledge and money, something dangerous could be created that could possibly destroy the Earth, destroy the Ozone layer or the Core. The Earth might be put out of orbit in experiment and the sun will disappear. Our source of energy is now gone, which means that our ecosystem and life will soon die out. Life will become dead.

The accepted definition of a technological singularity is a point where no amount of prediction or simulation can possibly postulate what it will be like beyond that point.

We are, in fact, in a technological singularity by this definition, the internet itself is a perfect example of an emergent technology that could never have been predicted before the advent of the personal computer.

Also, vista sucks cock and I can't wait to downgrade from this insane ass OS because I can't figure out what the fuck is going on with it and oh god there's so much bloatware x_x

    Nothing will happen.

Technological singularity is some kind of false understood logic...
By trying to think around 10 corners, most people forget to thing straight.

Just stay calm, relax, and enjoy the future, its gonna be interesting.
And no cybernetic human brain ultra simulator will take the world over and "invent every invention that is possible in an instant".

Maybe not so fast and not to that degree, but I think we will live enough for seeing something like that.hell, with this advance rate of technology. We will probably live long enough to see that.Oh as a note,I didn't consider the destructive nature of humankind.
